Wanted 1/72 Horsa Glider

Hi,

If anyone has one of the above boxed and would be interested in selling please get in touch with me. I am fairly sure Italeri released a Airspeed Horsa Mk 1 / Mk 2. I believe Heller have released one in the past few years as D-Day Air Assault kit.

Airifx are planning on releasing a model later this year but I don't know when and could ideally do with one sooner rather than later.

Thanks

Matt

Hi Dillon and welcome to the Forums.

Indeed Italeri, Revell and Testors have all produced the Horsa in 1/72 scale although they seem to be hard to find now.

There is a Revell one for sale on e-bay but the Canopy glazing is missing and that is quite a prominent part of this aircraft. Shame really because the rest of it is boxed and new.

The item is listed here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Revell-1-72-Ai...sid=p1638.m122

I suppose if you have enough experience, you could always mould your own canopy...it is a straight forward shape.

Having checked for the Airfix one, the nearest availability date is June 1st this year, priced at £10.99.

Good luck with your search.

Regards........Mark

Hi,

Thank you for the help, I managed in the end to get one off e-bay. The next thing will be to decide on what diorama to use it on - 1) a landing near Pegasus bridge or 2) on take off behind a Douglas C-47?

Thanks

Dillon

Howdy Dillon,

Glad to see you found one. I just wanted to give an opinion on what I think I would like to see. A diaroma of a take off behind a C-47 would be cool.
Like I stated above, I have the Gotha Glider and have considered building it and a Ju-52 or He-111 for photos as "tow plane and glider".
I think if you build a diaroma of a take-off, I will probably have to do the same with the german Counterparts .
Anyway, I look forward to seeing what you come up with. My glider build is still a ways off, I am swamped with aircraft to build.

Have a good day,

Greg

Hi Greg,

I think I am in agreement with you - a diorama of the Horsa and Douglas C-47 on take off is the way to go. I have seen a lot of dioramas of the Horsa after landing so this may be something different. I may try and find another Horsa for the background?

Like you I have lots on so this is going to have to wait a while, currently I am working on two dioramas one is featured in the Under Construction page, this will probably take me several weeks to finish then I have just started another of an artillery position.

Have fun building your aircraft.

Dillon
