Crew Figures

Hi Guys
It would appear that it is very hard to get crew figures for model boats, any ideas would be most welcome
I need various scales as I'm working on 3 different boats at the moment
Cheers & Happy Sailing

In the past I used some Britains farmyard figures for a model boat and some hacked 1/32 scale tamiya figures. One had a rather fetching full length leather coat and with a stove pipe top hat fabricated from a length of sprue and a washer looked very much like the owner of the vessel - checking up on his crew!

I remodelled them with milliput donkey jackets and flat caps. From a distance they looked rather good...

Depends what scale you're after but with a pinvice, some brass wire and a liberal supply of modelling putting it's suprise what results you can end up with.

Just look for figures with natural poses and avoid the ones crouching behind a wall or in the archetypal action man, firing the gun with itchy trigger finger look.

Crew Figures

Thanks Alan
I'll have a look on ebay for the Brittains figures. The figures I need shortly are 1/40 scale for a German Minesweeper I'm building, if I can get any instructions from some of our members. I also need some 1/72 but should be able to get them from Airfix etc.
Thanks again

Howdy Soldier,

I cant help it, when i see someone who is searching for something I just have to have a look for the item myself.
Well, I am not real sure what size you are looking for, i didnt read that far up in the post only read the part about you looking in ebay.
Anyway, Squadron mail order carriers figures, all sorts of figures. Below are two links, the first is to the search page S q u a d r o n . c o m - Search

and the second link is to the results of a (all sizes) naval figure search:

S q u a d r o n . c o m - Cookie

I think maybe you can find something there that you can use.

I hope this helps,

Greg

One last thing...look on Gaguemasters site, they do a good range of prieser figures, maybe with a bit of modification they might suit.
This is the most common problem I or a lot of modellers have here, figures and accessories. Have you tried to get decent boarding stairs or passengers sitting down in 1/44th? Just wish things like that were more readily available.
Good luck with your search.

Crew Figures

Hi Perry
Thanks for your interest - its a b----m-r not being able to get what you want. Regarding your figures, have you tried Model Railways as 1/144th scale would be "N" guage if my memory serves me right. Hope you are successful
