Myford M Series 3.5inch centre Lathe

Hi All

I have a Myford M Series 3.5inch centre Lathe that was my fathers and my grandfathers before him. Unfortunately, I am not wise in the ways of the Lathe and think that I should sell it someone who could put it to use.

The only thing is I don't know how much it is worth - can anyone offer some advice? I've seen prices ranging from £250 to £1000 - am confused!!!

As far as I can tell it is in good condition, I'm not sure what accessories it has with it, but I do have the instruction manual, accessories list and a book called "The amateur Lathe" by Lawrence H Sparey, 1950 (though in typically fragile condition!)

Can you post some images of the Lathe and Accessories? Value of the Lathe really depends on how tight it still is and it's overall condition really. Myfords are very much in demand though.

If I had a warm and dry workshop I'd probably make an offer for it myself!

It is some time since i last looked at the price of lathes, but myford ML7, in good condition, should fetch £400+.

A lot of the expenses are down to the accessories such as tool-bits, vertical slide, rotary table and jaw sets (3 and 4 jaw). Do you have a list?

The longer bed length will also fetch more, as will the later model.

Is it an ML7 or the older M Type? I think the older lathes would fetch a little more if in good condition as they were better built than the later models.
