Lovely progress andy , I struggled to mask that bit up too ,its a tiny funny little shape -even worse in 1/72 . Paintwork is looking sharp , looking forward to the top colours , cheers tony
Cheers jim , yes the figures arent too bad considering , theyre not up to the standard of the 3D printed ones I got recently - those are superbly detailed - even makes my painting look good!
Great stuff Tim , i think thats the same Zvezda set I did years back for the under a fiver Cosford group build , was there a catapult too ? The figures look fantastic as does the base , and they fit in perfectly , cheers tony
Base has had its first couple of coats of brown , the sand all stayed put! It’ll be getting more coats and a bit of variation then I can look at getting a bit of vegetation on. Ive finished the two figures , not brilliant but at this scale im happy .
Got the decals on today , next for the airframe is a coat of matt and then plenty of muckying up.
Meanwhile the base has dried , but a lot of the sand and stones are still loose . This was sorted by the liberal application of hairspray . This has stuck everything in place ( and made it smell...
Sky blue painted then a lightened version misted over the top to fade it a bit . I’m leaving this to fully cure before masking up ready for the top colours . All the paints are Vallejo model color , my own interpretations of the unique Australian colours .
Looking good andy , nice to hear the fit is good too , the arma 1/72 mk1 I’m doing needs a fair bit of dry fitting and fettling , Although to be fair I think it was one of their earliest toolings ,and by all accounts the mkII hurricane is much improved . Cheers tony
Airframe now all together , needed a bit of test fitting and fettling to ensure a nice fit , the bottom of the tubular framework was fouling the wing top so it was cut down . I broke off the aerial post on the top of the rudder during clean up so this was replaced with a piece of brass tubing...
Finally started on the base today . Got myself a tub of tile adhesive ( about £2 , Home Bargains ) which I spread onto the base , not too thickly . Once it looked like a Ryvita covered in philadelphia it was time to think about how i was going to get the ploughed field effect. A bit of cardboard...
