Right, sorry for delay, pics will be up hopefully before too long. However a bit of help needed regarding the MK3 escort. I've noticed the roofline is defo lower than the 1:1 models and I want to correct this! This can easily be corrected by cutting off just below the roof, adding filler then...

Thanks, a very quick update. Given up on red/beige vinyl roof cortina, tried numerous times and just cannot get the vinyl roof as tidy as I'd like it. So now it's converted into another 1.6L in the classic retro colour of tuscan beige. I'm hoping to put up pics of this, with the blue Mk5 cortina...

Hi all, a bit of an update as been away for a bit. Not exactly sure where I am in terms of thread, original post needs editing and updating. So, since last post, have completed a Mk5 ford cortina 1.6L in tamiya french blue, W reg. Really like this model from vanguards, lots of work had to go...

Project been put on hold so no further pics until probably the summer, planning a couple more models with the red/coffee beige mk4 cortina ghia; a mk5 cortina GL toe be resprayed red from vanguards and possibly a gold series 1 rover sd from matrix models. The latter a bit of an unknown and I...

Yep the sandglow is an awesome retro colour, much like the blaze orange. The two would look nice side by side. I should soon be starting to take pics of multiple models in one shot, would be much more atmospheric than the individual models which I wanted to get done before doing pics of multiple...

So here is the sandglow Marina then from vanguards - exactly the same methodology was used on this model as the blaze orange marina (refer to page 1) to make it look as realistic as possible. I'm pretty sure it's a higher spec model than the blaze version as it has chrome around the wheel...

Some really interesting comments, thanks all. Good news is bumper is corrected so the red/coffee beige vinyl roof ghia is on... just will need time to do it, hopefully finish before end of month. Hoping to put sandglow marina pics up at some point today.

That’s that decided, just hope now the bumper can be corrected!

Thanks, yeah the mk5 cortina is my favourite, followed by the mk4 and 3 versions respectively. As for the second mk4 cortina in my collection, I really want to make it a ghia version, taking spare wheels from vanguards mk3 as they have got it spot on. Whether it’s a ghia or L depends on if I...

So here is the mk3 cortina then from vanguards, a 2000E model. Vanguards have captured the coke bottle style shape superbly and the wheels are spot on to, much better than the vanguards mk4 ghia equivalent. Nevertheless, the original model wasn’t perfect and the work done to it being very...

Thanks, yeah I understand this model is probably the least remembered from that era. When I started school back in 85 one of my friends was picked up in these by her mum, again it was a low spec model like this but in white. I reckon had it not been for that I probably wouldn’t remember this...

So here is the Talbot Sunbeam then, a 1980 model resprayed in blue. The initial model from vanguards was pretty good, shape, size and proportions very accurate - the main change needed was to integrate the base unit with the main model; initially the side wings at the bottom were a separate...

Back in the mid eighties where we used to live there was a park opposite our garden and to walk to the park it took about 5 mins. Always en route there used to be an Austin Princess, in copper/brown colour. I genuinely loved the frowning look at the front with the twin round headlights and wedge...

Oops, forgot to mention the usual custom wipers and number plates to sync in with rest of collection, and front fog/indicator lights were initially painted on in solid coolurs so touched up with transparent paint.

Here is the Austin Princess then, a November 1980 Princess 2 facelift 1700L model completed in snapdragon yellow. The original model from vanguards wasn't a million miles away from being excellent, but quite a few changes had to be made to make the model look more realistic. Wheels are very...

Thanks for the comments. Yep long live the classic fords and BL motors! At least in our memories lol. Talking of BL motors, pics of the princess should be up soon.

Yeah I always found these stylish, certainly the design very similar in ways to the mk5 cortina. The ghia x I always seemed to think they were a bit over tooled what with the additional fog lights etc, but each to their own lol. Really fond of the mk2 Granada’s, takes me back to my childhood. An...

Here is the mk2 Granada 2.8S then. One the whole vanguards have done a really good job on this model aside from the front and back which needed some work done. Shape and size of the model is spot on and the higher spec model wheels very accurate - can't fault them at all. Changes then: - the...

1985 UK car park (1/43 scale)

Thanks guys. These were literally everywhere once upon a time. And the mk5’s too. I always had trouble differentiating between the two before realising the lights and wingmirrors were the main difference, then it became obvious. I’m still working on a second mk4 cortina L to go with this version...

So here is the mk4 nordic blue Cortina, 1.6L. Apart from a little bit of work done on the main shell, vanguards have otherwise done an excellent job. The L wheels are spot on. - the side windows were initially too narrow hence have been made bigger height-wise, same methodology as used on the...
