i must admit i was always abit of a fan of the espace, admittedly the later ones, they were good machines, - the first european people carrier manufactured i suppose, - and for several years out and out class leaders, we nearly bought the latest Grand Espace earlier this year- they are still good machines and the latest TD engines are stormers, getting a big 7 seater around quickly and the DCI lump still returns 40 + mpg- can't complain at that, problem is for me the pedals are just too close together for my size 13 feet ! - nasty on long journeys, i can cope on short trips but on long runs it gets uncomfortable, and renault auto boxes are not the best.... so we opted for the other award winning 7 seater..... the 'yank' one - the chrysler, very very comfortable big leather armchair style seats and no worries with the pedals..... ( designed for fat yanks or those with my build !!!!) sadly the mpg figures of this beast is also suited to the US market too....
thirsty, heavy, but powerful, expensive to service at £96 per hour labour and an 80 litre petrol tank that seems to have a hole in it !- in hindsight maybe should have considered the diesel version.....

but hey ho..... cest la vie- its gets me the wife, the kids and my models about, and often the grandparents as well !

plus the wife likes it so its worth the hassle and the bills !

Interesting to see that someone else has problems with narrow pedals, size 13 here as well ! I know the feeling as the clutch pedal catches the brake and vice versa, almpost impossible to drive in trainers, why do they do those dinky controls ? I envy your Chrysler Guy,a mans car with muscle, almost worth the extra costs involved, stick with it.

I just took a look at the pictures of the USS New Jersey. I am very impressed. I live about an hour north of where she is docked on the Delaware River. I get to see her just about any time I am going to a sporting event in Philadelphia. You have really done her justice.

Howdy Nigel and Miss Charlotte,

I just browsed through your website and those are all superb models. Great work!
I am not sure of Charlottes age, but she does fantastic work, its good to see another generation taking up a great hobby.
And to Nigel, your models are awesome too, you have the weathering and German camo down to an art.
Thank you for sharing your site with all of us, ikt was a true pleasure.

Have a good day,

Greg aka GW

I am glad you have made that decisoin. My daughter gets excited when I show her your work. She took a couple of her models into school for show and tell and some of the boys were telling her that models are just for boys. So, being able to see that you are doing them gives her ammo to fight back with.

Char what a lovely idea that is,I am sure that you can create something very special,as a suggestion how about an introduction as to his life, and how he got started in modelling ? dig out those old pictures and get them scanned in when you can,I think that it is important we record these things about everyday folk, especially model builders who are a quite unique brand of people.
Go for it Char, you have all the expertise you need here from John in setting up a site, and everyones support and backing.
