34" Fairey Huntsman - Which Motor?

    Hi all,
In the last few years I have built several fast launches of this sort of size (RTTL, MTB, Whaleback ASR etc). However in each case I have used twin Graupner 600 Speed or 500 Speed 0n 35-37.5 3 blade props. Great performance but heavy on current - typically 15-25+Amps!

I was intending to use only a single motor for the Huntsman to sinplify things a bit.
It has been suggested that I use an MFA Torpedo 850.
I am not very impressed by their Torpedo 500 so I was looking to use a Graupner motor, but which one? Or is there an even better way?

Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

P.S. are there any websites that publish THRUST figures for motors?

    Hiya

I too am building a Huntsman 31, I have been given a Graupner 700 BB Turbo motor.

Completely new to RC and model boats, so perhaps we can get through this minefield together. Name is Alan and I'm retired. Just now looking for some radio equipment and a speed controller, but that's another story ... one minefield after another. As for batteries ... I ain't got a clue ... that's the reason for joining this forum.

    Hi,
I use to have a 34" Huntsman which ran very well on a MFA 850, although a little heavy. The Robbe 700 would probably be a better bet and a little lighter. Watch the amperage though, best to use a good quality genuine 30Amp ESC and start with a prop of around 32mm and work up until the desired duration/speed is reached.
