Well what can I say except thank you guys for your unstinting support ! my strong philosophy in life has always been to help my fellow citizens, something I actually enjoy doing, life has been good to me and brought with it some interesting tangents which have proved a learning curve in themselves,I feel humbled at what others in this world have achieved and the ability of mankind to design and build the things that he does, over the past few years I have indeed looked back at my childhood, youth and all of the many jobs that I have done,so you have set me a challenge that I could not possibly refuse, part 1 of my story will appear tomorrow in my blog pages, that should keep me busy for a while to come,I just hope that it will come up to expectations !

Barry,

How about keeping it in a seperate thread so it doesn't get lost amongst the blog entries. Just a thought. When you are a rich author you won't forget your friends will you?

Squiffy,

Glad we can all help to support someone who is prepared to have a go at a modelling business. We would all be lost without people like you so we wish you all success.

I was actually down at my local model shop today (buying a kit!) chewing the fat about the changing industry and the fact that I am lucky to have a model shop in my home town.

*** Squiffy, make no mistake your bold venture has not gone un-noticed here,I actually now believe that your business and, product knowledge and determination in what you are doing acts as a great buffer between modeller and retailer,it is a tough business world out there, especially with the difficult hobby industry we know today,if it is anything that will get you through it is your young determination, honesty and hard work, there is certainly not millions to be made, but if you can secure a living doing something that you really want to then job satisfaction is everything, especially today.
Keep the shelves well stocked, continue to offer good old fashioned services and value and you will succeed,I am confident of that.
Above all keep down to earth by continuing to participate here as you do,we need that youthful vigour !

***Richard,at the moment it is just a continuation of my daily blog and Part 1 is already up and running, but seeing that this will keep us going for some time to come now,it should be easy enough to find in my daily entries, who knows how many words it will finally run to ? eventually like all of the valuable material being contributed here now it will be suitably archived for posterity, and easy to find for the future, take a look at the archives section it really is easy to navigate around and find things.
I think also that the headers assist this task immensely by placing key words easily found in the search engines.
I dont know about rich author LOL !! a starving artist is more like it,but we will keep that in mind.

Richard, when i was a kid (yes, ok so like 3 years ago..) there were 5 model shops in my locale, now theres one with some daft old biddy who doesnt actually know what a model is, in fact i think if somebody told her she worked in a model shop she would be wholey surprised! Its such a pity, never again can i have that "kid in a sweetshop" feeling...

Barry, great first opening post, i cant wait for number two!!!!

I know ill not become a millionaire selling models, but if i can produce enough for me to live how i would like and sell the products i enjoy then thats good by me. Its these forums that have spured me on, both with great ideas and great feedback, to be honest, i would be lost without them now! Also reading random threads is a loverly break from hours of coding!

Not sure about the "youthful vigour" tho, lol, My friends think im a bit mad painting "those toy soldiers".

A good point about google headers, you only need to look at the how did you find us thread to see that a large % are coming from google. In my circles most people have google as their homepage!

You keep painting those soldiers to perfection,it is a lovely way to relax,we have been collecting these weekly series and have ordered a big glass cabinet complete with lighting to display them, really looking forward to arranging them,at the moment they are stuck in boxes awaiting that day.

Its a loverly way to relax until they go wrong, lol! I screwed up this knight i was painting last knight (like my pun there, lol). Hes really really hard as ive got to paint a tunic, sheild and horse in an inverted triangle pattern which with the bends in the cloth is almost impossible!

Are you talking about the del`parado collection of soldiers? they come painted and made from lead?
