Like Seaspray I'm not very good at finding my way around, but I feel that I'm getting more familiar with what's what.

Can anyone give me any tips on how to find new threads and unread posts quickly?

Is there any way I can mark items I have read and want to keep up with e.g. like putting a "watch message" sign as on NGs?

Sorry to be a pain, but it would speed up my visits and save me from opening bits I've already looked at - unless, of course, I want to go back to something to refresh the grey cell's memory.

The memory is OK - it's the retrieval system that's at fault...

Malcolm

Every time you visit the forum if you press the "new posts" link on the navbar that will display all new posts since your last visit, you can also subscribe to threads, at the top of each thread you will see thread tools, click on that for the drop down and click on subscribe to thread, you will then receive an when someone replies to the thread.

Hope that helps you

Thanks John,

As I shut down after posting this I noticed the navbar and realised that I was being an unobservant clot.

Will try that route from now on - if my poor overworked remaining grey cell can remember.

Malcolm

Wink Seaspray

If your really really stuck to get back to the thread your interested in, I put it in to my favourites on the computer. But as you nav through the site it gets a little easier.I am a afraid I don't come on the S.M now as I prefer the forum at Model Boats.co.uk but S.M. is a great site to be a member of.
Good Luck

Latest Change

Since the change to the latest format, I have come across an anomaly. When I logged on for this session the welcome message said that there had been 16 new posts since my last visit at 08:11 30-06-05. When I go to "new posts" I get told there are no new posts. Obviously one of those stories is incorrect. Which one?

It is now saying 1 post since last visit and 23 in the last 24 hours. I believe the first statement (am assuming it was my post) but the 23 certainly aren't evident when looking through the topic list.

It is probably right, there is a private forum for moderators and we have been posting in that a lot, but it shouldn't include them, obviously it does, I will look in to it
