      Trumpeter 1/16th scale King Tiger

This is the first Armour Model I've ever built and was an absolute joy to build.
I've been so impressed with this kit that I bought a second which is Trumpeter's Second release the Porsche Turreted version and plan to build that one as the Porsche prototype.
I'm told the kit does have quite a few inaccuracies but I can live with them , I'm going to purchase all the avaliable Photoetched sets for my next build.
I've always had an Interest in German Armour just never really had the time to build anything for myself, I had a ball painting and weathering this beast, I've since removed the spare turret mounted tracks and cleaned up the pin marks also please pardon my photography it's very ordinary!!!

      Hi Sean
That is a fabulous KT! You should be justifiably proud it's excellent. The subtle weathering is quality - love the exhausts and the paint chipping.
A BRILLIANT 5 stars from me!
BTW, I think this particular Tiger from s.Pz.Abt.505 would have had Zimmerit applied but this is not to detract from an absolutely flawless build. Really looking forward to the Porsche turret version Sean.

I've got the RC Tiger 1 from Tamiya which I'm intending to convert to the later type with cast copula and apply Zimmerit. We should definitely keep in touch on all things 1/16 and armoured.
      All the best
      Paul

Thank you very much Paul for your kind comments on the model you are very correct in what you say about the Zimm and this was pointed out to me by my Armour modeling mate as I was building the model. I didn't apply the zimmerit because the whole exercise in building this model was to learn how to paint and weather Armour .
I borrowed my mates DVD called " the pigments" Vol.1 by Mig Jimenez which has a section in it buy Marcus Nichols on Washing and chipping , this was a huge help in me achieving the finish I got.
I'd love to stay in touch mate I just don't have any plans for anymore Armour builds well not in the Immediate future anyway due to my scratch building work.

      Cheers Sean

WOW!! You can't beat a good Tiger B and in 1/16 scale too. Top work for your first armour Sean, can't wait to see the Porsche turret version.

      Have fun, John
