The only way I found to get a finish with a paint brush that looks like its been sprayed, and over a wide area is to use only brand new pot of paint, use it all on the first painting and do it quickly, stir it very very well and paint all the parts that need painting.
If at a later time I had some more hull or chassis painting needed, I would open another brand new pot of paint. After a pot has been opened for half an hour or more, I find its slightly thicker because of the thinners evaporating and the colour is very slightly changed, which shows up doing large area.
AND
YOU START SEEING BRUSH STROKES IN THE THICKER PAINT. You could if you wanted add some more thinners, but then its hard to get the colour just right.
But thats only for covering a large area, for a small area, the colour change doesn't matter so much, I have pots of paint that have been open years
(not literally) when they start getting thick, I just add thinners.
The paint I use is Tamiya, not for any reason than, That was the paint bought with a Tamiya tank as a Christmas present, and that reason only. I will put on the forum a picture of a King Tiger, painted before I had worked it out. But, what works for me may not suit someone else.
