Has anyone built a "Challenger 1" tank?

Has anyone here built a Challenger 1 before?

I was looking in my local model shop earlier and they had a Revell 1:72 Challenger 1 reduced to £2.99, so of course, i couldn't resist!

I'll make a start on it when i finish my first model (the Messerschmitt 109) although it definately looks more of a challenge (pardon the pun) loads more parts to put together.

Anyways, i just wondered if anyone had built one of these before and had pictures they could show me? just looking for some inspiration really.

Thanks

cant help you there mate, i dont make smaller scale stuff like that. but hey....if i saw it for 2.99 i probably would buy it!

tip: paint the tracks before you put them on!!! (sounds obvious but sometimes you can completely forget...try a metalic grey colour)

you have some more nice masking to do there on the turret.

lol.

£2.99 it's a bargain I've got a Tamiya Challenger 1 Mk3 1/35 I've had it for a couple of months just haven't had chance to start it yet.

I should of searched a bit more before asking really, i just managed to find this

http://warpedplastic.co.uk/armour/re.../chal-main.htm

and yeah...masking...dont even ask lol

I'll definately remember to paint the tracks first aswell, instructions point that out aswell im sure.

I might need to try some weathering on this aswell, as a spotless tank doesn't really seem right!

I could do with some general tips about painting with brushes actually, i'll be buying a proper set of brushes before i go near the tank, the brush im using at the moment came with the messerschmitt (along with 2 paints) and hmm, it's kinda crap. After seeing all these airbrushed models online, im a little disapointed by my brush efforts! not to worry though, it's not all that bad i guess.

Get yourself some good quality brushes, expect to pay a couple of pounds each. They are worth every penny and you can acheive some very impressive effects with a simple brush.

As you get more adventurous you might try differrent shapes like I use a flat brush quite a bit when I am deliberately trying to create a surface texture but once again buy good quality.

Cheers, are there any specific brands or anything? i was lookin on ebay, but obviously the ones i was looking at aren't quality ones!

I just had a quick closer look at the parts aswell, the "glass" parts on the turret arent actually glass, they're just plain plastic and need painting, and with a smallish brush i think its easily do-able without masking tape (thank god!)
