I'm not a warhammer fan I'm afraid, just don't like the world or the rules. But I've done fantasty, sci-fi, and all sorts of "historical" from ancients to WWIII micro armour.
Personal favorites, 15mm Renaissance, ACW and WWII (be it boaties, planes or armour). I just love the look of German Armour....
I then wandered into a model shop looking for a toy for my 1+1/2 year old and came out with an airfix sherman?? then the thought doing a "viller bockage" type game arrived, so I'm about 3 shermans and 1 Tiger I down......

Umm, guess that means I'll have to finish it then try to find the charger for the camera......both could be a bit of a challenge, motivation was never a strong point!!

Think I've managed to post some pics in the gallery, one in planes Ooops....
I'm not that good on a camera!! If it's not "point and press" I'm in trouble!
Anyway as can be seen 1 nearly done sherman (just the tracks to go) ,any suggestions on ways to improve?

Gaz, you've got a really nice paint job there. I like the subtle shadows and the dry brushing is just enough to bring out the surface detail.

Obviously the tracks will make a dramatic differrence and I am sure the model will be looking superb when it's finished.

Howdy Gaz,

The model looks great to me. Will you be hitting it with a coat of "dullcote" to knock the little bit of shine off the turret? That is the only suggestion I have to give you on the model.
As for photography, once you finish the model, try taking it outside and sitting it in a bare spot in your yard, or on your driveway. Then take your camera and sit it on the ground, level with the model and snap a picture. Ground level shots in a realistic looking surrounding are one of my favorite ways to "shoot" my models. Have a look at some of my models in my gallery to see what I mean about "ground level shooting".
The human eye is not used to seeing models from that angle and therefore, even if you make a bad picture, it turns out pretty good because the angle is different than you would normally see.

I hope this helps, again, the model looks great.

Have a good day,

Greg

heres one of mine from ground level:

Oh, one more thing, the wire from the "tie twist" used on bread wrappers make great antenna once the paper is removed.

"dullcote" What that?? I was just going to blast it with spray matt varnish. I'll try out your photo method at some stage as well.

Howdy Gaz,

Dullcote is a "matte" finish made by Testors. It dries really fast (although the smell is pretty strong until dry...usually in about 15 min.). It will take the shine off of anything and not leave a sticky or "tacky" finish on your model, in fact, it leaves the model feeling some what like it was coated with baby powder to me.
However.....Do not use Dullcote on clear polystyrene like canopys or windows, it will cause them to "cloud up".
It can be purchased at most places that sell models and paint for models for about $4 (US).
Testors also makes a "Glosscote" which adds a deep shine to models, although to me, it has abit more of a "sticky" or "tacky" feeling to it until completely dry (it usually dries thoroughly in a few hours and it also has a strong smell until dry).
Below are pics of both products:

I hope this helps, Have a good day,

Greg aka GW
