tnx people!i'll try PLASTER OF PARIS, i think i can avail that here.but if plaster of paris won't work well, i have no choice but to wait till zimmerit is available in our local hobby shop.another question, i used tamiya acrylic paint, is there a need to mix thinner with it?what kind of thinner.is it okay if used no thinner with it?with regards to figure painting, is brush painting okay?it seem that air brushing is a bit difficult in such a 1:35 scale figures.tnx

yes you will need to thin the paint for spraying. you can get acrylic thinners from most hobby shops, if not search online for tamiya acrylic thinner.

yes brush painting is the way to go about painting figers, i would think spraying them would be impossible, well you can spray on a base cote and other various shades for pre-shading but the detail has to be done by hand!

Nigel, I'm not sure iof there are some crossed wires here.

I think you are quite correct in so far as air brushing a tank hull is the best way to a perfect finish but figures, as Richard W says, have to be hand painted.

I think crossed wires here!!!!!!! I fully agree that spraying gives awesome results on large areas 1/16-1/24-1/32 shell/chassis/superstructure.....but for details on figures and say tools on a vehicle & wudeva fiddly bits u can think of ,,,then i think its patently obvious that brushes are needed.

And if you just aint got the spray, and cans are above the budget, use a brush. No one on this site will get flamed for brush painting unlike certain sites (which will remain nameless that think it is their god given right to spaz out those that chose to brush.)
Kinda brings us round to the other question for authenticity....Was the real thing brush or spray painted?
I think it was Onewinglo that first mentioned that camo was applied with a brush in the field, corresponding to the terrain.

Tiger, actually a very valid point and one to think about when painting anything if you are after a realistic finish.

The steam ship I am making comes from a time when spray gear did not exist in ship yards so all vessels from this time would be brush painted. It therefore doesn't make sense to me to spray the hull when the original was never such a perfect finish. I have therefore painted the hull with a small flat brush and deliberately used alternate directions of stroke to emulate the real brushed finish.

You have to think about each application and evaluate the merits of any type of paint finish.

OOps yes i didnt read it right (apologies to all) brush painting is the only way for figs! I tried to airbrush one and it looked utter rubbish!
as for brush painting other things i think you have to look at the scale effect

If that is your first ever model it is superb and you should be very proud of your work.

Techniques such as the camoflage pattern could perhaps be improved by being more random and the tracks would maybe look better done in a metallic coloured paint but these are things that you will pick up and experiment with as time goes on.

I didn't even paint the first model I made!!
