do NOT under any circumstances use wood fillers.. they will react with the plastic ..after reading your posts.. i think your best bet would be the "hot needle" technique..i have used this myself..to good effect..on my tiger 1..see my post under.. even more piccies..for a few pics..mark out in pencil. first.then apply the "zimm pattern "...as for basic painting...wether you use an airbrush or do it by hand...[my tiger is hand painted]..mix everything thoroughly..use the correct thinner..apply in several thin coats..allowing plenty of drying time in-between..UNDERCOAT everything..this gives the following basecoat something to hold onto..if you are using more than one colour..lay down the lightest first..you will use less paint..Its' easier to cover lighter colours with darker ones....[try painting white over black...its not as easy as black over white!] and its easier to correct mistakes ..above all LET IT DRY PROPERLY..I know this is the part of modelling where we start to get a little excited... youve' spent the last week slaving over this thing..and its all gone perfectly.not a glue smear...fingerprint...or scratch in sight..in fact its the best build you have done to date..BUT if you rush it now because your desperate to see it painted..you WILL RUIN IT..
and most of the time its because ..[vic reeves] YOU WOULDNT' LET IT DRY!.. AND DRY TO THE TOUCH IS NOT DRY ENOUGH.. you must let the paint "cure" even these modern acryilics. which apparently dry in seconds.need at least 24hrs.to Harden sufficiently. so as subsequent weathering etc..wont lift them.. hope this helps...D...

Karlo
Well done mate you have the camo pattern off to a tee! What you really want to concentrate on is weathering (make it looked used) this will really bring out the angles and recesses on your model ! Its a a learning curve and you have started well in advance of many others. Its a real credit to you ! A really big well done

thank you to all of you for your reactions and suggestions.my tiger has no zimmerit because i can't really find any alternative. and it has no weathering effects yet because i have no materials for weathering such as the tamiya wheathering set.is there an alternative for that?!one last thing i haven't included the action figures because they are not yet finish!my scale is 1/35, is it possible to put paint eyes or eyebrows to those little figures.i find it impossible.

I THINK ITS PATIENCE AND PERSEVERANCE THAT I REALLY HAVE TO DEVELOP.ACTUALLY I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY MODEL TO FINISH AND I WAS ALWAYS EAGER TO APPLY THE NEXT PAINT WHEN I'VE DONE THE FIRST COAT OF PAINT.NEXT TIME I'LL BE MORE PATIENT.GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!!!

By the way, what model should i next try on?!

tnx

I didn't even paint the first model I made!!

hi what color of paint should i try with the tracks?!

why is the tamiya acrylic dark green color seems so dark compared to the green color that is show in the packaging box of my tamiya tiger tank kit?!

I would paint a coat of Tamiya gunmetal, X-10, first and then dry brush Flat Aluminium, XF-16, over it.

The dry brush will take to a whole new level but the addition of a wash of say a dark red-brown would also bring them to life dramatically.

Have a practise and a play and you will be surprised at how easy it is to make them look quite realistic.

Don't get misled by the box art. They are quite often not accurate colours and whilst giving a good overall impression of the vehicle they are a shiny glossy surface which does not necessarily show a flat matt finish particularly well. They also depict highlighted areas which are shown as lighter colours and can mislead.

Your best bet is always try to get hold of third party literature such as profiles publications for the most accurate colour guides and follow the model instructions, although these are not always perfect either.
