use a soft flat brush...take some of the thick paint from the bottom of the tin..use a matchstick or somesuch tool...put this thick paint on your pallet and wait a few minutes to let the excess thinner evaporate.. dip the end of the bristles in the paint..wipe off the excess with a rag....stroke the brush back and forth..over a piece of card..until it looks like there is no colour leaving the brush...then apply to the areas of your model you want to highlight....EG..ok basic drybrushing for your tiger tank would be...to drybrush with a slightly lighter colour than the base coat..add a few drops of white..drybrush this all over..pay particular attention to the raised details. after this has dried thoroughly..mix an even lighter colour.of the basecoat..and reapply ..but this time apply to the edges of the turret... hull...sideskirts.... anything that has an edge...you will see that drybrushing gives the impression of faded paint..where applied..and the raised details will stand out..whilst the recessed detail..looks slightly darker ...this effect can be accentuated..by the judicial application of dark washes..practice on an old model..you will pick up this technique fairly quickly .and it sure as hell beats shading and blending......
REGARDS....D...

Put Dry Brush into the search facility and have a look through what has ben spoken on the subject in the past.

You can also have a look at the "Back to Basics" thread here:

If you want to have a go at the hull of the tank use the base yellow paint and mix in a little white. Use this paint as the dry brush medium.

It might be an idea though to practise your techniques on the tracks first which would be a lot easier to rectify it you were not happy with the results.

A hint I use for dry-brushing, once the bulk of the paint is removed from the brush onto the card "flick" your loaded brush back and forth over a spare finger!! You can gauge how much paint is left on the brush, and see the rough effect it will have on your model, by observing the paint "highlight" the ridges on your skin.

Cheer's ,

Gaz....

Apart from the great tips on this forum (as previously mentioned use the "search" facility) the Hyperscale site has a useful series of downloadable video workshops. It's mostly aircraft (and one tank session!) but the wash techniques and airbrush tips are universal. Go to: http://www.scaleworkshop.com/workshop.htm
