tank show july 2007

i just thought iwould let you know about a forthcoming event,
i hear its a must for tank fans aswell as for RC tank/ military modellers....

its the annual show at hop farm in paddock wood in kent...

in 2007 its an anniversary show, in past years the extensive grounds have been full of tanks and military vehilces, many of which are put through thier paces to the delight of guests, last year the panzer dispaly was said to be mindblowing....

there is also a small dispaly at hop farm all year round- see below....

I once had a go at one of the Red Letter Days which involved driving an Abbot Self Propelled gun.

The whole thing was an unbelievable rip off and I would not recommend it to anyone but the 10 minutes I eventualy got at driving a tracked vehicle was a fantastic experience and gives you a real appreciation of what fighting in a tank was all about.

I just took a look at the website, looks like a lot of fun. I noticed that there was what looked like a Tiger 1 there...on closer inspection i think and its only a guess mind you, that its a Tigerish top with a t34 bottom.
I still want to get to Bovington to see a real one running.

Guy,

This is called "The War & Peace Show" run by Rex Cadman. Its the worlds largest gathering of military vechiles. An amazing show thats on for over a week with live firepower demostrations, re-acts, and 1000's of traders. If you want to buy a WW2 German helmet or modern ferret tank parts then this is the place.

I had a stall there this year, was a really good event, although seeing people in full combats walk around in 32C was rather amusing!

O they also have military modelling dioramas. Accurate Armour and a few other elitest AFV clubs.

A friend of mine from the Boat club is a Traffic Policeman on Motorway patrols and one day he noticed a guy walking down the hard shoulder of the M1 in full WW1 battledress complete with Lee Enfield etc.

When he stopped and asked him what he was doing he said he was on his way to a Military Vehicle gathering, his car had broken down and it was easier to wear his gear than carry it.

My friend advised him to consider himself a "Prisoner of War" and stuck himk in the back of the car!!!

I found a better photo of the "Tiger" from the War and Peace Show. It looks like a mocked up tiger grafted onto a T55 hull. Still looks pretty scary though - despite it's non-historically accurate wheel configuration!
