Hi Phill
no you have not hijacked the thread, in a way you are keeping it alive i understand you are building a Tamiya Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf.c. hows it going ?

My Halftrack is slow going its just finding the time to get on with it but i hope to put some more pics up as i have nearly done the tracks.

Hi

that looks great. I have also tried to go for a similar effect on the rear benches.

I will try to take a couple of pics later if i get chance.

However I am facing a big decision and I am not sure what to do... I have added all the wheel axles and fixed them in by gluing the cover over them. Most of the axles move freely, but 4 or 5 are very difficult to turn. The wheels will not turn when they and the tracks are added.

The question is: Should I remove the fixing plate and re-work them so they all turn freely, or just leave it. After all models are for looking at aren't they? Not for playing with??

What does everyone think? All wheels should turn freely, or doesn't matter if a few are still and won't turn properly?

Johnny is our resident expert on the construction of sdkfz 251 half track running gear after modelling each wheel and tracklink from a dozen or so tiny pieces of meticulously cut cardboard!

Nah I'm far far away from an expert!! But I have a lot of reference material on the 250 series

Here is a pic of the different parts of one tracklink for the 250 series.
