Where Can I Get Vehicle Decals

Hi All

I will be building a Cromwell 1/35th ferret soon. However they do not come supplied with any decals of any kind. Anyone know a supplier of vehicle markings that will suit?

I am sure there are some out there and you guys will know?

Cheers

Andy

Howdy Andy,

Well, I went to one of my favorite online lists of decal manufacturers found at this link: http://www.craigcentral.com/models.asp and here are some links to different manufacturers of decals that you might look at.
Now i dont know that any of them will have the exact decals you are looking for, but, maybe you can find something that you can use on one of the sites. Just click on any of the manufacturer names below to go directly to their websites:

There are other useful links on the website i listed at the start of this reply, so be sure to have a look at the site.
And making your own decals is not as hard as you would think as long as you have a photo editing program. As a matter of fact, moments before i logged into this site and saw this thread, I was searching for decals myself and had decided to print my own once again. I am about to sign off here and go and make some UNITED STATES COAST GUARD decals for an HU-16 Albatross seaplane. If you decide you want to try making your own, let me know and i will be more than happy to help in anyway I can.

A few tips for making your own decals.....

1. Search google images for emblems, national insignia etc for photos of any that you might want and save them to "my pictures".
2. Make a list of any "writing" you want to be included in the decals like letters or numbers, graffitti, warnings etc.
3. Determine the color of any letters or numbers.
4. Determine the size of any letters, numbers etc 1/4 inch, 3/8 iinch etc.

The sizing is the hardest part when it comes to actually making the decals. What I do is create a "blank photo" that I can transpose the letter/number/ insignia onto and then resize that photo to the dimensions that are needed.
After all the sizing has been done, then I arrange them on a larger "blank photo" and size that to fit my decal paper.
If you have never made a decal and want help in designing a set, feel free to let me know in this thread or you can email me at [email address] and will be more than happy to help you in whatever way I can, including the set-up of a decal sheet for you that you can print off on your own decal paper. But you will need to provide the images, size requirements for any lettering and color requirement.

Have a good day,

Greg aka GEEDUBBYA (GW)
