German Tank crew?

I have just started to build Italeri's WW2 1/35 scale German tank crew figurines.

However i am at a loss as to what paints i should use, any ideas would be much appreciated, i want to match them with either humbrol paints, or my favoured choice, Tamiya paints.

Normally these sort of things come with proper instructions, and paint guides, no such luck with this kit. And i want to be as accurate as i can be, and not paint them in any old green.

not too sure but would they not have used grey uniforms? if so tamiya do a nice german grey (xf-63) if its a green chances are its just olive green (in which case tamiya do xf-58)

hope that helps.

Yes its probably the grey uniform, and possibly a black uniform too, well i say black, maybe a very dark grey/green. I dont think they used an olive green though, thats more common to the US Army.

The grey Tamiya paint number you gave me is much appreciated, thanks rjwood.

Wasn't the Wehrmacht panzer crews uniforms black? The commander for my tanks both had black uniforms and i painted them with Humbrol colors. 61(Flesh), 33(Matt blac) for the uniforms and 85(Coal black) is gloss so i used that for belt and boots. I also used 56 for the buckle for some extra details.

the ss panzer divisons, the crew had black uniforms! if you gogle it you can find some good pics of the uniforms, and you can see some ss panzers! hope this helps you!

P.S: the Wehrmacht panzer crews had grey (german feild grey) uniforms, if you look at the paints above they are good ones to use!

For SS, to try to get a better scale effect if you go for a very dark grey it will look more realistic than pure black. I would tone down a flat black with a couple of drops of dark grey just to take the edge of it. You can then use a slightly lighter mix for the highlights and a darker mix for the shadows but I would still avoid pure black.

For Wehrmacht I would use a dark field grey as a base and mix slight amounts of a medium grey with it for the same range of tomes.
