| New(old) hobby. Hi, all!
So, I decided to start building models again. But, due to size and cost, have started on the 1/48 scale armor instead of the 1/35 I built many years ago. UncaBret - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I certainly don't have the good eyesight and steady hands of 30+ years ago, but what the heck, it's fun. |

| Howdy Uncabret, First off, welcome to the forum, we are glad to have you here. I looked at your work and those are great looking models/diaromas. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future. "Seeing" seems to be a keyword, my eyesight is not as good as it used to be either, I just finished building a 1:144th scale model airplane yesterday and i am going back to 1:48th scale myself lol. Anyway, again, welcome to the forum, i hope to see you posting in any threads which might interest you. Feel free to ask questions, give advice or just comment. Have a good day, Greg aka GEEDUBBYA (GW) |

| Thanks. I spend nearly as much time on the bases as I do on the models. As a matter of fact, I have three bases waiting for models I haven't bought yet!
BTW, has anyone built any of the Hobby Boss 1/48 stuff? Is it good? |

| Howdy again UncaBret, As you can tell, I aint from the UK, instead I am over in Arkansas in the states. We dont have alot of hobby shops and all of the hobby boss models I have seen are 1:72 models. But, The shop owners who stock them have told me that they are nice models, and if i am not mistaken, Hobby boss is owned by trumpeter and i know they have really nice detailed models. One tip to you, i noticed that you just gave the link to your photos, if you would like them to show up full size in the threads, hers how: When you begin a new thread or reply to an exsisting thread, if you will look above the "text box" towards the center of the screen, you will see a small Icon that looks like a mountain with a postage stamp in the top right corner. If you will click on that Icon, a new box will appear, in the text box provided in that smaller box, insert the link to your photo. Now you cant put a full webpage in there, to get the address of the photo only, you will need to first, right click on your photo (where ever it may be) and click on properties. When you do, you will see a "web address" in the "properties box". copy and paste that address into the box that you opened when you clicked on the icon. This will post your photo in your thread. I hope that made sense to you, have a good day, Greg |

| Sarted building my Cromwell this week. Set the partially finished chassis on the base I built for it to see how it would look.
Dang!
I got carried away on the base and the Cromwell will only fit if it is the only thing on it!
Guess I'll use the base for something else and put the Cromwell and British infantry on the base I had planned for something else.
Oh, well. |

| Howdy Bret, I really like the look of the jeep and the soldiers. I went to your photobucket site and The different Bases you have built look great, they look like they might take longer to build than most models. The jeep itself looks really nice and would make a great diaroma on its own with a few soldiers. One thought that comes to mind would be the guys standing round the jeep, one with a map, one a radio operator and one of the old WWII or korean war era "picket signs" thats shows towns like "Hollywood, USA 2,000 miles ->" and "New York city 5,234 miles->" along with a few other well known cities. Anyway, The jeep, as well as the M10 and the soldiers all look great to me as well as the bases you have designed. ps:, if those soldiers can flank that carnage bot, i believe they can "neutralize the threat". Have a good day, Greg aka GW |

| I have been thinking about putting the Jeep with a M8 or M20 armored car and figs. I think they will fit on that base pretty well.
I enjoy building the bases as much as building the vehicles to go on them. Not so much the figs, tho. I used to paint 25mm fantasy figs, eyes and all, but just don't have the skills anymore. |

| Okay, tried to post a couple of pics of my nearly finished Cromwell but it didn't work. You can see them on my Photobucket. Just need to decal, finish weathering, flat coat, and build and paint 6 figures.
(the tracks were a PITA!) |

| wow that cromwell is amazing!!!!
you have some great work there. i too have some bases for models i havnt built yet. Im not an armour person, but then again. if something catches my interest. il build it! i recently watched a program on the challenger so i have ordered the tamiya 1/35 challenger II (desertised) with some nice p/e and looking for a metal barrel as well!
any tips for a new armour builder? the only one iv built before was the tamiya 1/35 panzerflakwagon. it turned out ok, but that was about 2 years ago.
Richard
