K1a1 Korean Main Battle Tank

Hi everybody,

I just finished my latest project, a Trumpeter 1:35 K1A1 Korean Main battle tank. This tank, I've read was designed and engineered by General Dynamics and is manufactured by Hyundai. The turret is quite similar in shape as the Abrams M1 main battle tank. Lke the other new MBTs around, it sports a 120mm smooth bore gun. Anyway, I put it out on the open (in natural sunlight) and took a few shots to see whether it had more realism to it as what Greg had told me before. I think it looks better. Hope I did right. Here are some photos..

Nice, very nice indeed.

RJ," the challenger two has a 120mm riffled barrel",

thats a normal Brit military solution, "Hmmm, I know lets make a bigger gun"

K1A1 Korean Main Battle tank

Hi there Richard and Gaz,

Many thanks for your nice comments on the K1A1. At leastI know I have been improving more on my weathering skills ever since I first logged in to this very informative website and having the opportunity of meeting you fine people always ready to share their views and tips.

Well with regards to the awesome Challenger II main battle tank, its one of my favorites. In fact I have one kit in my closet waiting to be assembled (Trumpeter 1:35 Challenger II with dozer blade in Kosovo)

As I've been reading about modern tanks, the Challenger II has a new fire control system as compared to its predecessor, Challenger I. The new Challnger II is clad with the most advanced armor, the strongest in the world. Invented by British scientists, it's constructed from steel, inter-layered with ceramic and tungsten rods, but exactly how this is achieved remains a closely guarded secret. Futhermore, with its new firing system, its 4-man crew can detect and attack a moving target the size of a football 3 miles away!

As soon as I am finished with my Challenger II, Ill gladly post them here. Have an enjoyable and blessed weekend guys!

also, the challenger I holds the record for the longest range confirmed tank kill which was 5.2km (at night)

im getting the 1/35 Tmiya Challenger II (desertised) for my birthday plus the eduard p/e set which is a must for a modern one. great stuff!

Look forward to seeing your Challenger mate!

Richard

And I quote Jeremy Clarkson
"The thing I'm most interested in though, is the big gun. Which you can see is rifled, for greater accuracy. Not like those smooth bore American ones, that just hit something over there"

A friend of mine was in Abrams' when they changed over. He says the 120 is not nearly as accurate as the 105.
