Tank tracks

anyone care to impart their wisdom of painting tank tracks?

I got my panther on the go and gonna paint the tracks. I have a bottle of metallic grey but I think it looks a bit too shiny. I was looking at other pictures of real panther tanks and of course they are all weathered and the tracks are somewhat dull in colour. Haven't attempted weathering at all...yet

Wondering how can I go about making the colour a bit more dull, or a dull steel or iron colour

Should I do a slight wash of black on the tracks to take away the shine from the metallic paint?

any and all ideas are welcome!

Hi Pete,
Washes are a good way to go but don't forget to do rust colour washes too as this will really add some effect where it catches in the right places.

I did this using spray paints on my R/C 1/10th Panzer V AUSF G ....the actual track links are plastic but the nuts holding the links together are real metal ones. The Base colour was hand painted first and then weathering done by spray along with natural wear and tear. All the pics I have taken seem to show nicely weathered tracks now !!.

There are pics on here so you should find them easily.

Regards..........Mark
