      Jagdtiger Camo?

      Hey guys i'm new here,

I'm just wondering what type of camouflage was used by the Jagdtiger crews in Normandy and then Germany.

They only built about 70 of them and judging by the amount of swearing the Dragon 1/35 kit's tracks have caused I can see why! :P

Hi Floyd and welcome aboard mate! Jagdtigers didn't serve in Normandy, but in the Ardennes, Ruhr pocket & Hungary by 1945. If its a later one with the Henschel suspension, you can go with a hard-edged 'ambush' scheme of red-brown & green over dunklegelb with 'dots', or thin green camo stripes over dunklegelb as both are correct. If it's an early Porsche type of which 12 were made, then there were initially used for training so were dunklegelb all over. They were pressed into service as combat vehicles as the war progressed though with little success. An interesting fact is that the 128mm gun was not as good as the 88 used on King Tigers in terms of armour penetration. I so know where you're coming from with those awful tracks! See my review! I'll be (hopefully) posting my pics of the big kitty soon. Look forward to seeing yours Patrick.

It seems in the main around this time the cammo used by the crews was a base colour of sand brown with 'dot' colours of Dk, Lt and medium green and brown. The forage caps were black and the boots were brown.
As is always the case re. colours of the German Army during the latter days of the war they scrounged whatever they could from wherever they could, be it armour paint or cloth dyes. So there is a vast difference of opinion and shades!!
I'm sure you will receive other answers and the debate will roll on forever.
Anyway, welcome to this most wonderful forum....you have chosen well.

OOP! Sorry FP, I thought your question was about the crew uniforms not the vehicle!
