      Photo-etch

Any ideas on a good way to help bend photo etch? I am building a pzrIV J late and am trying to use/put on Aber photo-etch update kit. My trouble is mostly with trying to bend the exhaust around, very frustrating. I thought talking dirty would help, no avail.
      Thanks for the help!!

Have you tried annealling the brass Dragon? That makes it easier to bend I believe. The only other suggestion is to find something of a similar size & shape to bend it round-I've used paintbrushes & hobby knife handles myself!

Just a question out of interest... does photo etched metal stick down with just normal cement? I've never used etched stuff yet but plan to.

Not plastic cement like Tamiya extra-thin or Revell contacta Paul, but with either superglue (CA, no I can't remember what it stands for!) or 5-minute epoxy. I usually use superglue for bits that are easy to reach & epoxy for stuff that might need a little more time to position correctly. But when you come to use it, prepare for curses! Patrick

Cheers Patrick. I've heard how people swear and curse when using etched parts. Modelling has caused me to open up and expand my use of derogotory terms )) Especially when i was masking the canopy on my Spit. I've got a Churchill Crocodile in my stash and have etched parts with it and was eyeing it up last night.

      Patrick,
what is annealling? so know I haven't tried that. What I did try was bending it around something similar in size, but didn't come out round enough. I was hoping to use the brass exhaust.
@ Paul, I know what you mean, my vocabulary certainly has expanded after this! neighbors may think I was a sailor or something.

Annealling is passing the brass through a flame like a gas burner until it turns dull red, then letting it cool naturally. Bend it round something slightly smaller, then it's easier to open it a little to make it the right size. Patrick

if thats the AFV club kit, then I'd recommend looking for blogs on the build coz I've heard it can be a complicated one!

Has anyone tried annealing printed photo etch? I have pre printed harnesses for my huey and I want them to look natural around the pilots.
