Transmitter help please !

I am having bother with my radio gear in my Engel Typhoon Submarine.

I am using a Robbe F16 transmitter and a Robbe 8 channel reciever. The problem I am having is all the servos are twitching, and the pumps and motors i have running off the reciever are switching on and off permanently. And when the motors and pumps are deliberatley turned on they go on and off!

I have moved the aerial away from batteries and motors etc. All motors are surpressed, and am fast running out of ideas!

Whats really odd is when I turn the transmitter off, the whole thing settles down, servos stop twitching, pumps and motors stop and everythings fine. Till I turn the transmitter on and it all goes mental !

Starting to think transmitter is faulty! So if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them, this one is bugging me now !

Thanks

Paul

Try another set of xtals, remove Rx from sub and try on bech just connected uo to servos. With RX in sub connect 1 channel at a time and see what happens.

I will give it a go. The odd thing is the servos still twitch when the main batteries arent connected. I am using futaba servo extensions, I was even considering the fact that they arent twisted to prevent interference.

I will definately try another set of crystals.

Arec you sure the reciever is compatible with the transmitter? I don't know what the F16 is but you need to be sure they are both single or double conversion, AM/FM etc as well as the crystals being compatible. I always use crystals from the same manufacturer as well as that seems to be more reliable.

Obviously check batteries, connections etc but this does sound like a compatability issue.

The transmitter and reciever came together. There both Robbe units, so I would hope they are compatible Think I will check with Robbe though all the same.

But I will check the crystals, I am not sure but I think there hitec crystals which I was told were compatible with Robbe handsets.

I have some different ones which I am going to try today.

Thanks

Paul

The crystals also have to be the same i.e. single conversion, AM/FM etc.

I think they are the problem from what you are saying.

Thanks Bunker, much appreciated. I have been looking through the literature that came with the handset, and on there website. I cant find much in the way of single conversion etc. AM FM isnt the problem, there both fm. And the crystals are all from FM sets.

But what you said about them not being from the same manufacturer was spot on. I have 5 sets of crystals, and I tried them all this afternoon. Only 2 sets were compatable with the Robbe transmitter and reciever !

So thanks for that, I will order some more tommorrow. Starting to think the interference is coming from one of the electrical systems, in particular the diving tanks.

More on that tommorrow, I have ran out of time tonight!

Thanks again

Paul
