Hi Bob
I have several, and they all have uses.....
An engineering scriber is a useful general tool. Holds an edge for ever....leaves a raised edge to the furrow though.
Tamiya scriber is good, commonly called a scrawker, they can be fairly easily made yourself if you know how...basically cuts out a furrow, so no real discernible edge to the cut.
I also use a couple of Lino/scraperboard artists cutters as well. They are really good for some sorts of plank lines.....again, leaving no raised edge, but not cutting square slots like the Tamiya tool.

I've heard good things about the UMM scriber tool but not sure they are available in the UK.

Been using an Olfa P cutter for 20+ years to cut plastic card for scratch building but they can also be used for panel lines

I think the Tamiya one mentioned above is a licensed version of the same tool

I use the Tamiya one. the handle jut sits better in my hand. You can hold it like a pen almost. The Other one the handle is a it chunky and you tend to hold it like a hammer!

A pin style scriber is very good for inside corners.

Just rebranded. On the back of mine, moulded into the plastic, it says “OLFA JAPAN”.

I agree this is a very good tool for scribing lines in plastic and cutting thicker sheets, though.
