In the meantime, just describe the kit contents and progress :smiling3:

You could get a Photobucket / Flickr account, upload piccies there and link them if you can't upload?

The new Spitfire more or less fell together by itself, barely needed any filler at all. The 109 is a different story, it's probably more filer than plastic now.

Right, canopies masked off with Tamiya tape and I've started sploshing a bit of paint on

Eeeeek, that brown looks far too dark

Hmm, strange looking grey

Yes the Spitfire is a better kit but then it is brand new. Anyhow I didn't like the Vallejo dark earth, much too dark, so I had another go at it

Better? I prefer it I think. The cammo pattern needs a bit of tidying up though

That looks really nice. Your second version of dark earth is much better. Compare it to this original 1/1 model and I'd say you are spot on!

Thanks, yes it does look closer

That's a superb photo, is it original WWII? It looks too good for a mock-up

Great looking pair you have here. The spit looks great as I'm sure the 109 will. Now, I must make a start on my own 109 !

It is original and original colour. It's one of a series shot for Life magazine. I'd say that it,and the others, are posed but no less authentic for that.

Okay, back to the build(s)

109 Cammo done

Small bits mounted & ready for paint

Bits painted & both aeroplanes gloss coated in preparation for decals

That was up to this morning

I've got the Decals on the 109 today and should have the Spitfire done before bed time

I'll let the Microsol dry off overnight and I should be able to get a coat of varnish on them both tomorrow evening

After that I'll mess them both up with a bit of heavy-handed weathering and Bob's your what'sername
