I wanted two destroyers to compliment my King George V Battleship, but didn't think such things existed in 1/1200. But I was wrong, Airfix do them, so I've bought a pack containing two ships.

Postie brought these yesterday, so I've made a start.

Superstructure and guns added......Sorry about the state of the tin, it's my enamel mixing thingy!

Right, I've completed what was in the box and painted the ship too. For such a rediculously small model, it has a surprising amount of detail. I'll do a little research and see if this class of destroyer had a rear mast of sorts.

I filed down the mast as much as I dared, but it's thinner than a fine needle now, so I can't remove any more......

Here is the first one ready for some more of that dreaded disruptive pattern I did on that KG5.

Cheers,
Ron
Edit. Just looked at 'real one' and it does have a rear mast - of sorts. So I'll add summat to both ships.

Well, the boy done good with the big 'un, so I daresay he'll cope with these.

I'd still like to see railings though!:D

Yeah and some little figures...come on Ron, we know you can do it ;)

Giz a break. No handrails!....or diddy figures, nuffink. It's taking me all my time just to see the ships!

Thanks for the excellent posts folks.

Here are the two destroyers in their 'Disruptive Pattern.' Certainly not Admiralty Pattern, more spanner's!

All ready for a bit of rigging, ice and general weathering. Then touch up where I've missed.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you chaps.

Tony, I think I'll do Richthofen's 1/144 Fokker triplane.....plus authentic rigging, of course!

Here are the two finished destroyers. Very basic rigging, just main mast stays and one connecting the two masts. A coating of ice and with a flag each, ready to join HMS KGV

Thanks for following this mini ship build.

What are the names of these two destroyers Ron, it's amazing what small scale ther are but detail looks fantastic and compared to KGv they look like so tiny in comparison. KGV was huge

Robert

Thanks Robert. They are Tribal Class. HMS Cossack of Altmark fame being possibly the most familiar name. One of the class (HMS Punjabi) was actually cut in two and sunk by King George V during bad weather.

Cheers John......but I have a secret weapon. I bathe my eyes in Boddies!

Thanks Russell. There is one of these running on eBay. I would have considered it, but I have ordered the Bismark before I spotted this set.

Thanks for the heads up, none the less.

The battleship and destroyers are now together in 'Completed Ships'
