Has anyone ever heard of such a vast tide of humanity arriving on a forum at more or less the same time before now?

This Forum prides itself on being a friendly, open and easy going site. It caters for all types of model making and skill levels.

There is no room for 'Prima Donnas'

Personally, I am 100% confident this latest band of recruits will not only uphold the good name of S.M., but even enhance it......

As most members will already be aware of, John, the owner of this forum, runs a most excellent 'Shop' Please support him. (Scale Model Shop tab, top middle, opening page.)

Finally, a warm welcome to all new members. Muck in and have fun....

Cheers all.

Ron......(Cabin Crew member No. 3)

Hi Ron
Thanks and well said. I have just posted similar thoughts on the ex MilMod members thread. Use it or loose it and we have been there before.

yes.....and it almost killed the forum they migrated to....in a 24 hour period over 50 people joined.......they didnt want to integrate with original members, started their own GBs, etc....basically just carried on what they were doing at the forum that closed without a thought to the etiquette of the one they joined......i was a GB Moderator there at the time, it caused a lot of bad feeling

but i welcome the refugees from MM, hope you all enjoy your time here

Hi Beowulf,
I don't believe that the rash of immigrants that have joined this Forum will cause that type of disruption, they are a friendly well meaning bunch who enjoy sharing their modelling experiences and wanted to find a new home following the sad news on Military Modelling. It is a credit to the atmosphere and members of this Forum that they chose to come here.
regards Jim

Thanks for the welcome Paul and Jim,
Hopefully you’ll find all that recently joined from MM are respectful and courteous.
Do we have any current GB on here?

Yeah, there are quite a few. We currently have two types of GB. One set is organised by Polux and the other are member-suggested. As I understand it, the only difference between the two is that member-suggested GBs need at least ten folks to enter before the mods set up a specific thread.

If you scroll through the Forums section on the home page, you'll find a whole section dedicated to the GBs.

Hi Paul
I can well understand that having a lot of new members who all know each other can be worrying. Will they integrate? Will they try to change things? Will they be polite and constructive? All I can say is we will try our utmost to be an asset to the Scale-Model forum. Easy to say I know but time will tell. We are a nice bunch - promise :smiling:
