Let's continue folks!

I've started the painting and ageing process. First, primer:

Then, a desert yellow tone:

FOTO (129).JPG

I highlighted the edges and bolts and I also used a brown wash for shadowing:

Afterwards I painted other details from the chassis and the tires:

Some more brown tips to imitate some chipping:

and brown oils for rust:

Done with the chassis painting!

Now, I'll go for some ageing and dust, and for that I used putty, paint and nail polish remover (acetone)

FOTO (134).JPG

I mixed everything to get a dark coloured liquid putty:

FOTO (136).JPG

And then I sprayed the mix all over the chassis with an old toothbrush:

FOTO (137).JPG

This is the result, some nice mud spatters:

FOTO (138).JPG

But it still doesn't look like mud, so that's why I used some pigments:

FOTO (139).JPG

After some layers, once the thinner is dry, this is how it looked:

FOTO (144).JPG

FOTO (145).JPG

FOTO (146).JPG

FOTO (148).JPG

I used some oil paints in the joints to imitate the grease in the suspensions:

FOTO (149).JPG

Oh! Don't think I forgot the tires:

FOTO (151).JPG

So after all, it really looks like it just came out of the desert:

Hope you liked it!

Regards!

Thank you all for the comments!

I have continued with the interior of the vehicle:

First the usual layer of primer:

FOTO (156).JPG

To show further chipping effects, I used a little bit of liquid mask:

FOTO (158).JPG

Then I sprayed the desert yellow all over the piece:

FOTO (159).JPG

FOTO (160).JPG

I also painted the dashboard:

FOTO (162).JPG

FOTO (164).JPG

FOTO (165).JPG

FOTO (166).JPG

Once the paint is dry, I have used a toothpick to remove the liquid mask, showing the primer layer:

FOTO (170).JPG

FOTO (171).JPG

Then I used some washes to add depth:

FOTO (175).JPG

Then I painted the bags on the back of the seat:

FOTO (176).JPG

And weathered it heavily with pigments (remember they have removed the doors)

I had to place the radio and the computer.

FOTO (186).JPG

I add a coiled wire to the radio as I have seen it in some pictures:

FOTO (192).JPG

Then I painted the radio set:

FOTO (188).JPG

Since the computer screen looked a little bit weird painted black, I painted the windows logo to make it look better:

FOTO (189).JPG

With a drop of glossy varnish it looks great:

FOTO (190).JPG

And then I placed the radio in place:

FOTO (191).JPG

For now that's all

Hope you liked it!

I have had some problems uploading the final pictures with the windshield. I hope this time it will work.

First I used the windshield piece to make a draw to imitate the rain marks:

FOTO (180).JPG

I used that draw to transfer the image to tape:

FOTO (181).JPG

FOTO (182).JPG

Then I placed the tape in the clear plastic pieces:

FOTO (183).JPG

And I airbrushed a very dilluted layer of tan and made some thicker markings with the brush:

FOTO (184).JPG

I also sprayed some paint with a thick old brush and this is how it looks:

FOTO (185).JPG

Then I painted the inner part of the roof and the rubber borders of the glass:

FOTO (199).JPG

And this is how it looks all together:

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

I've had some crazy weeks at work and I couldn't find a minute to post my advances, but finally here they are:

I finished painting the roof canvas with some desert camo:

FOTO (207).JPG

I had the image in my head of a humvee ramming a door (still don't remember if I saw that in Generation Kill, Call of Duty or the news...) Anyway, I thought it was a powerful image so I just tried something like that:

First I painted and weathered one of the rubber tires of the kit:

FOTO (225).JPG

Then I cut a pewter sheet to get a sling:

FOTO (213).JPG

FOTO (214).JPG

Next, I placed the tire in the grid:

FOTO (215).JPG

Some adjustments and a photoetched hook:

FOTO (216).JPG

FOTO (217).JPG

FOTO (218).JPG

And there you have, a menacing ram!

FOTO (219).JPG

Afterwards I airbrushed some green and brown, just like if the owners would haved use some spray cans, as you can see in some pictures:

FOTO (195).JPG

FOTO (197).JPG

FOTO (198).JPG

Step by step, it's nearly to be finished...

Regards!
