I spent 7 years as a crew chief on a Saudi Tornado squadron.The pylons didn't have sway braces.Instead there was a mechanism built into the pylon that tightened the crutches if the store moved.Im assuming the RAF ones were the same .So I would cut off the sway braces.

Further to Daves comments, I stumbled across this post on Britmodeller, the sway braces aren't present on RAF machines.
