Stretching sprue.

For building small scale models there is always a need for various sizes of plastic rod to add scale details, this rod can be easily made from the tree sprues that come with the parts attached in the kits,it only takes a bit of practise to get it right so here are a few pointers to get started-
Light any ordinary household candle making sure it is really safely mounted into a sturdy holder, now take any piece of the sprue and slowly move the plastic rod along the flame about one inch above, slowly pull the rod until it starts to go pliable and stretch it outwards to the desired thickness of the material required, then hold the plastic to cool off,it takes a bit of practise to get it just right but like everything in life once mastered it is easy.
Best to make some rod up and store it ready for use with your model building.
