Mankster, the weathering brings this to life perfectly and enhances the detail superbly. I like the rust on the free flooding holes and when you look at a picture of the real hull out of the water it makes you realise just how weathered they actually get in service.

I also think the textured black looks the business as well. If I remember rightly they were covered with a tile that was supposed to absorb sonar etc and the finish was pretty much as you have created.

Just hooked up 1 door to the radio for the fist time tonight. I still have a bit of tweeking to do to the linkages to get a bit more throw, but here a short video of it in action. So far, the mechanism works as well as I dared to hope!

Sure, nothing exotic, but it works! Servos are waterproofed obviously. I am using a servo-slow device to delay the servo transit, which I have set up on switches on the Tx.

Thanks for the reply . A nice easy to get to solution, well done. A friend of mine has waterproofed servos he uses in the free flood area with Tool Dip, the stuff you Heat up then dip tools in to stop them going rusty and an O ring on the servo horn. He says it works. How did you waterproof yours ?.

Hello Mankster, I have scoured the internet for some Russian sub sites that you suggested but only found submarines.id.ru, have you any info on some of the other sites that you have managed to find please. I am a bit behind on the old internet searching im afraid.
Cheers Sub.

Hi, I use an oring at the spindle and just epoxy over the case seams and cable exit. Unfortunatly this mean you wont be able to take the servo apart for maintenance, but I have never had one fail on me.
I don't have list of sites, I just down loaded the pictures I found useful. If you PM me your email I can send you what I have. If you are building the Typhoon, then I recommend purchasing the Polar Bear plans I used. The Mision Invisible doccumentary which was shown on the Discovery channel has some great shot; most of it is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykYHN3pP2SA

That a pretty neat XXI, nice sail detailing. Is that a Robbe conversion as well?

Andrew, as promised I have some pictures of front dive plane mechanism again. I have finally got this beaten! Both arm move at the same time, same rate and by the same amount. It was trial and error in the end, making a number of steering collars with holes at different distance, and carefully noteing what differance it made. I now get quite a lot of throw and arm swing back fully in the retracted position. Also slowed the mechanism down to a more scale like speed.

and a short clip.... http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q...t=MVI_3200.flv

Update.
Installed all the electronics, just the piston tanks to install. Took some pics before in all gets crowded in there. Is there a prize for the most number of channels used in a RC sub
