Thats true Sub, there never a quick project. Especially if you want them to work properley.

I have just put in a pitch controller this afternoon. I am hoping it may make it a little more stable when its under way. Suppose time will tell on Sunday when its in the water next.

And maybe manage to control it at periscope depth when I get a little more practiced.

It went back in the water today, and its still working fine. It can now submerge stationary, run at periscope depth or just above the lakebed.

That was until it started to veer over to port. Odd, handset was spot on, rudders werent jammed, bow thruster was ok. So I got it to the side and looked at the props, I thought I may have shed the coupling on the propshaft, or the speed controller was shot.

The port prop wasnt turning at all, so out it came. I honestly could not believe what I found. I lifted the stern up and there was cloth wrapped all round the prop, and onto the shaft ! And to my total surprise after I got it unwound, it was a sock! And I am not kidding, some A*S***E has obviousley fallen in or got his feet wet and chucked his socks in.

In all the years at the lake its the first time something like that has happened to me!

Trouble was the props are held on with loctite. And it has sheered the prop off completely. So for the sake of a sock back out the water it came and in the truck and home!

Better luck Sunday !!!

Paul

I'm suprised it managed to sheer the prop of, the worse I've encountered is plant life which sherds pretty easy. Good to see you have the boat performing well and looking good, after that a few rough patches. Well done.

No all we need is some on/under water shots!

I was quite surprised it went like that, just made good the repair and its sorted. We are trying to get North Tyneside coucil to dredge the lake, but they say the wont until its completely full of reeds. Which is nice of them !

I tried yesterday to take a video, but I still have my right hand in plaster, and I am still learning how to control the boat, trying to operate the camera was a bit beyond me at the moment. But as of monday the plaster is off and hopefully will be able to then. Makes putting the thing in the water a little easyer as well

It was probably some POND LIFE that threw the sock in, in the first place....

Thank God for the internal pressure switch

After getting a little cocky with it this morning I was enjoying skimming under the surface, I noticed the tanks wouldnt fill. I thought it must be electrical, anyways it was still handling fine and everything but the tanks was functioning.

Anyways out it came and there was the smallest amount of water in the keel. I mean literally mm's of water. Turns out the bloody prop shaft bearing in the WTC wall has worked its way loose. Again !
And the pressure switch inside has detected the pressure variance and disabled the tanks. Gives me a little bit of comfort knowing that it works !

I have tried twin pack, resin and its a tight fit in the WTC. The motors are pretty strong, so I must have the bearing slightley misaligned, and the prop shaft is twisting the bearing away from the WTC. I put a Tachometer on it this afternoon, and theres a 200rpm difference in the shafts. So tomorow its getting adjusted and a modified bearing put in.

Paul

ps And to make matters worse, never take your better half down to the lake with you. Aparently theres no logical reason ( according to her ) why anyone would build these things. I mean that just ignorant !
