Hi, Sav I can not elaborate any more then Richard, but to say, you have done a beautiful job on the weathering and rusting effect, well done! I am now faced with the argues task of the same, thou fair at weathering smaller scale ships 1/350 1/400 I have not done one of this size, so I'm now stuck on what to do and how to do it, so I tipe my hat to you, and to say youuuuu suck!, lol lol any way I'm glad you got the modeling bug back,and I am looking forward to seeing the finnish model.all the best Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Your rigging sucks too!!!
Maybe you could rig mine and i could paint yours

Seriously though, there are a few pointers further back in this thread in regards to the weathering i've done here. If you need any help you know where i am. What i would say is get as much ref as you can, i took a load of photo's of fishing boats moored up at Weymouth harbour here in the uk. These working boats show a lot of weathering as the boats tend to go out in all weathers, much as the U-Boats we are building did.

For the weathering below the waterline I 'googled' dry docked ships and copied what I saw from these photo's. All this was done on top of a coat of matt varnish (Acrylic) so if it all went tit's up i could wipe it all off with a white spirit soaked rag.

Right, i'm off to try and make some insulators and stuff......
