A lovely looking sub so far!
I've always thought the Akula class were a very menacing looking ship.

It is quite an educational experience for me seeing how everything fits and is sealed.
I too will be keen to see how it behaves without bow planes. Is this common practice or unique to this build?

One thing I am wondering about is why you have used three UJs in the prop shaft? As I understand things the centre UJ is not actually doing anything except acting as a spacer.
Is there not a danger of the centre UJ flailing around and hitting the control rods?

It was just geometry, the vertical separation between the propshaft and motor shaft would mean additional drive loss due to the angle the double joint would have to make. I had to use a longer spacer between the 2 U joints than the one supplied and it just happens that a U joint third was just the right length No chance of them falling out, fits pretty tight.

I finally got the first coat of primer on and happily there isnt as much sanding and filling as I feared. I managed to loose some of those hull sensors that came with the kit, but there should be some replacements in the post.

I'm pleased with her so far, goes up and down pretty evenly and no dramas with the WTC. Sits pretty much bang on the intended waterline ( video ) which is pretty high on the Russiian doubled hull boats, with just a 500ml ballast tank. If anything I may add some more foam and lead to increase her metacentric height as I fear she'll torque roll when I fit the prop and open her up.
