Some of you may remember my previous project – Zundapp KS750. My next motorcycle in 1/72 is BMW R75 with sidecar. Actually model is now completed, but I would like to share the tricks I used during the build. The project is based on Italeri 1/35 BMW and scaled down to 1/72.
I’ll post few pictures at the time and maybe give a brief comment, so if you have any questions I will be happy to answer.
I used a piece of sprue to make the headlamp:
After a closer look at this picture I realized the part looks more like chiken legs rather than front fork.
So I stripped it down and replaced few parts to make it thinner...
Fantastic quality work! I remember your previous 1/72 motorbike, that was great!
But you said this build is already finished - can we get a sneak peek at the finished model? It should be superb if its all as well detailed as those forks!
Hello i think it's not gonna be a bad thing and i will take chance to congratulate you Marudek with taking a first place with that model in a on-line competition. I must say it is awesome job and i am glad that i have give my vote for you.
Thank you alan2525 for kind words. I think I owe you a bit of explanation. I didn’t post the build thread before, cause the model took part in MODELWORK’s competition. One of the rules says that build cannot be published anywhere else before the results are announced. So I waited till the end of competition to share this with you. And as adamkijak mentioned the model won Grand Prix Modelwork. It was my first competition so I’m bursting with pride
A sneak peek at the finished model:
And here are some more pictures:
I used the needle of that old revell glue to make a part of frame that holds the fork. The other bits are future lamps:
Then I reduced the size of that white bit on the fork, and painted it:
As you see on these pictures things keep changing. I don’t remember now how many times I put these little bits together to see how they fit. Many times I had to undo some parts and start all over again with use of some different material, or simply by adjusting things slightly. For example the filter that is on top of the tank. It took me a while to notice it’s too high. Same with leaf springs for the sidecar. First I made them of paper but they were too thick and I had to change them…
