1:48 progress, Mirage and Bucc

Esci 1:48 Mirage III, after 1 filling session, priming and another filling session: -
Radome joint needed a lot of work... still does

Wingroot wasn't too bad but tailpipe needed a lot

See...

Radome joint and underside...

Airfix 1:48 Buccaneer S2B, again mid-prime/sand/fill: -
Wing fold joints were awful but I could have improved them with a spreader between the upper and lower outboard halves

Intake and nose joints were both made worse, and split when I dropped it, so my fault!!!

I will post more when progress is sufficient to warrant it! lol
Comments, rude remarks, general insults or compliments welcome.
Stuart

Howdy Stuart,

Having built two of these Mirage III fighters myself, i was curious as to what color scheme you were thinking of using on it? ( I know its abit early for that, but if you are like me, you already have something in mind ). lol
Now neither of the ones i built were by escii, but i believe they are all pretty much the same model no matter who produces them.
And what about the Bucc, what paint scheme ya thinking bout there?

have a good day,

greg

Geedubbya, good to hear from you man!

Like you, I tend to pick colour schemes early, ooing and aahing at the boxart and the colour choices in the painting guide!!!

The Mirage will hopefully be natural metal, Aircraft Number 814, South African Air Force. I picked that so I have a chance to try out my Alclad II "Airframe Aluminium". This is why I'm making double sure that there are no gaps or rough areas on the plastic finish! It's proving to be a handful!!!

The Bucc...that's tougher. I've always had a fancy for the Desert Storm paint scheme: Blackburn Buccaneer S.Mk.2B by Ingo Degenhardt (Airfix 1/48) but I'm not very confident in getting all the tonal variations of the single colour right and I think it might turn out a bit uninteresting, So I might go for the Grey and Green of the Lossiemouth based European camo Buccaneers. (It's where I used to go spotting with my Dad and Bro!!)

Any hints or tips for me on the Mirage?

Stuart
