Nice choice Tony, I was thinking of doing that one as well once I finished the PRU spitfire.  I will now look at one of the other schemes for a bit of variety.

This SIG should be renamed the Eduard 1/48 Mig-21 SIG!

This is a nice kit Tony, it's quite intense.

Well this has gotten underway. The build starts with the cockpit and i decided to use the decals ( no pe remember ,its the weekend kit) i couldnt paint the optional raised detail parts anywhere near as good so on they went . I think they look fine  the hardest part was matching the colour for the rest of the pit.

There are no belts for the kit seat and as i had a 1/48 km1 resin seat from pavla ( i think) this was painted up instead. Its a very nice kit so far , paying close attention to the instructions is necessary though as it is a very precisely engineered fit. Heres some pics, cheers tony

Looking great so far Tony. Which paint did you use for the cockpit?

It was a bit of a custom mix mike , vallejo 70-808 and a bit of old games workshop( citadel miniatures) bad moon yellow.  If i ever need to touch it up im buggered, i just mixed it until it looked about the same as the decals!!, cheers tony

Bit more done tonight, the fuselage is together and ive got the tail and spine on. I didnt forget the nose weight either , a nice sized ball bearing doing the job. As i said earlier its a very precise fit , if youre doing one of these i recommend leaving the two bulkheads out until after joining the fuselage and not gluing the jet pipe section until together either. This way theres no danger of the bulkheads being slightly off centre and not allowing the seam to close up fully. Next up is the wings and i think theres a slight warp on the port side of the underside section. Hairdryer at the ready .  Heres the fuse , cheers tony

Well its starting to look like an airframe at last, i got the wing problem sorted by running hot water over the wing bottom section and gently bending the port side up till it was level . The wing tops went on no probs , just a tiny gap easily sorted with some vallejo acrylic putty and a cotton bud.

What paint did you use for the radome Tony?

Its an old pot of citadel miniatures ( games workshop) paint that i acquired when my son grew out of GW stuff, its called ' snot green' but i think theyve changed all the names now. Its a good match though and looks very much like the green seen in photos. Sorry its not much help unless you know the name of the colour now, cheers tony

Cripes! That's even more vague than the paint guide!

Off to SNMstuff tomorrow morning for me then.
