Looking good Bob
Very nice, but what's the trick with the circle template?

Pete

Thanks all,

Alot of work done. Here is the next update. The tank is NOT painted using Tamiyas JGSDF colours as they are acrylic and are not available in the Tamiya enamel range. I dont like to airbrush acrylics. The colours were eyeballed and I came up with the closest match I thought possible.

Preshaded the tank with Humbrol 85 Coal Black and forgot to take a photo. I then painted the basecoat with Humbrol 110. Happy with the result.

Also started work on the mine roller

20170204_123555_RichtoneHDR_zpsttv9l9sw.jpg

Then using something new which I learned of thanks to Barry which he uses on most of his recent 1/32 aircraft builds - Clever Putty, I masked off the base to begin painting the camo pattern

Second color painied using Humbrol 30

Masked the turret next

Now to create the blue tinted glass ( I assumed it was blue as I couldnt find any reference photos, although the picture on the side of the box has some of the glass blue). I used Tamiya enamel Clear blue and mixed it with Micro Krystal Klear and using a toothpick layered it into the glass holes.

20170204_205234_RichtoneHDR_zpsawip7vct.jpg

The glass on the turret hatch is supposed to be clear, so that was done using just Micro Krystal Klear, all other glass holes were tinted blue. It is still drying in the photos below. I also attached the rubbers covering the front and the turret.

Detailed of the small parts was then done, I broke off the antennas, as Im going to use metal wire for those instead.

I used Vallejo Washes light grey on some of the wheels and Black wash on the grills on the turret.
I highlighted the panels and lines on the tank using a Copic Multiliner Black Pens, using the 0.03mm and 0.05mm ones. Here it is mostly weathered with panel lines highlighted.

20170205_141224_RichtoneHDR_zpsrctotxy1.jpg

The tank is now complete - I will not weather it further - except for the wheels. I will finish the tools, some spare extras to put in the basket and then I will do the decals and seal it all in. The mine roller will probably be done last.

Once again I would like to say I chose not to use the Tamiya JGSDF colours as they are acrylic. The colours above were eyeballed to the closest possible colours and also to give more of a contrast too. Personal preference.

I hope you all liked the update. All comments welcome.

Thanks Pete, the trick is to paint the wheel black then use the template as a mask and airbush the centre of the wheel the desired colour, so you have a wheel with a perfect round rubber around it.
Thanks, I'll try that.

Thanks all for the comments

Here is the latest update.

Spent some time detailing stowage for the Basket. I have put in a few extra civie jerry cans, an ammo box and a brief case with the launch codes in it!

This is just a test fir, the parts have not been painted yet

They are now painted, I still have not painted the machine gun yet. The tools have also mostly been painted as well.

I then painted the machine gun, the paint is still drying here, and also one more tool.

I like the basket with all the stowage, I chose to keep the items a bit more colourful to lighten up the dark moody colour of the tank. I don't know why there's a brief case in there, I just like it.
All that is left to be done now is a spare track has to be painted, and then I will seal the entire model and apply decals a few days later. It also needs a matte coat as alot of the stowage and tool wood colour is still a bit glossy

In the meantime I will continue work on the mine roller.

I hope you all liked the update. All comments welcome.

Looking very sweet

Thanks John, Mini and Ian.

Here is the next update. A very sweet one it is. The tank is complete, and I have a reveal video of it here. Also some final pictures of it as well.

But first the build pictures.

So first I realized that after the tank was complete that the Smoke Dispensers were connected by small chains, now the instructions did not mention this but the box art shows this. So now I had to undo some really good work and do some scratch building. I used very thin wire to replicate the small chain or tow cables connecting the smoke dispenser tops.

20170211_134733_RichtoneHDR_zpsqhyyf4ay.jpg

Then I began more work on the mine rollers

20170211_175809_RichtoneHDR_zpsoeb4m7xv.jpg

The tank was gloss coated using pledge floor care, and decals were added, smoke dispensers also painted

Test fitting the mine roller

20170211_180805_RichtoneHDR_zpssxlnee0v.jpg

I then sealed the tank with a Flat Coat Alclad II Flat Coat, here it is finished before final weathering

Here are photos of the final tank before I applied pigment weathering to it.

Here are final photos with Tamiya Weathering master sets used very sparsley to weather the decals, the rubber and side skirts a bit.

Last but not least here is the reveal video for just the tank

Now I will continue to work on the mine roller and there will be a full reveal with many more photos of the tank as it is now, and with the mine roller attached. This video and a new video with the mine roller will also show up in the final reveal.

I might also make some adjustments to the tank, the antennas are too thick I think but I donot have any thinner metal wire so if I get some I will replace those, and maybe touch up the paint job just a little.

I hope you all liked the update, the mine roller is still to be built. All comments welcome.
