This will be my entry for Peters GB build
Well I got my kite at the weekend and will be starting this lovely kit ( so it looks ) at the weekend.
I'm thinking this is the new mouldings Ju87B. It looks very clean and has some lovely detail.
With Airfix new mouldings it seems to be no flash if any
I'll be building out of box and source other stuff needed from my spares box ( 1/48 Luftwaffe seat belts ) etc
I may change the decals using what I have in my decal drawer to depict another "Stuka" other than the box art ones supplied ( defo needs a swastika ) Not sure if I build with engine displayed or not ( think it should be nice eh ??
May need a bit of help with Luftwaffe Units in France etc 1940 etc ???

Anyway box shots and sprue shots

Thanks for looking

Regards Robert

Looks nice. If this new tool Airfix builds like the others I've just done, it should be great.

Well I made a start on this today. All the cockpit detail and first couple of steps were taken off the sprues and cleaned up. There are no fit issues with this kit so far. Lots of very nice detail from the pilots area to the rear navigator position.
Airfix have moulded this kit very well
There are a couple of areas to clean up where the ejector pin mark was but nothing that a few swipes will take care of.
Once everything was cleaned up and dry fitted twice I constructed the first parts .
There is a good wing cockpit flooring part that will later attach wings too but this looks like a very strong area and seam lines should be minimised later ( fingers crossed
The fuselage has quite a few pin marks but due to the cockpit walls being slim and the interior I doubt this wil pose a problem, and is invisible once cockpit walls in place but I decided to get rid of them anyway
On the interior there are two side panels which have locking pegs and positioning holes A01 and A02 these provid instrument to the pilot and nav lots of detail here
Very nice AIRFIX
Now for primer then Rlm 02 once dry

Well had a wee blast with this over the weekend and got some Rlm 02 all over the fuselage. I then did detail painting on the interior. I had s set of paper 1/48 seat belts you have to make yourself ( very fiddly bug managed them.
Now need to do weathering and chipping

That looks really good Robert, you've certainly done well there.

I've never tried any other harnesses than the Eduard pe ones - they're fiddly enough!

Well I think these were an old set of paper that once painted etc they act like real ( looking ) harness ( supposedly )
Personally I think they look a little pug of scale but once the fuselage is on and more weathering they may fit in right.
Company was Airscale harness abs were originally for 1/48 he111 if that helps.

Yeah after a second look, they are perhaps a little big. But they still look good!

I may remove them and get some Eduard ones

I'm not being picky
and not a rivot counter but I like to think I build near on accurate depictions of ww2 aircraft
Thanks fir looking

Well I have decided to leave the seat belt as they are ( ca in place and too much hassle to damage them and time etc etc. I have given a light wash with umber and they look a lot better.
I have also done some dry brushing and some chipping internally.
The cockpit dash has been airbrushed Rlm 02 then the facia painted dark metal grey and then the dials spotted black with cocktail stick and then dials touched up with aluminium areas with the odd colour here and there ( think it looks very good to me.
The kit parts are all fitting nicely
There is a glass piece at the lower of the pilots feet ( obviously viewing area when in dives and bombing runs Part G01 which fits in nicely at the foot of the cockpit near rudder pedals.
See pics
Thanks for looking

Airfix have solved a very good question which all of us come across when building Aircraft, ( the suspension )
In the Airfix 1/48 Stuka new build they have addressed that very point.
The Stuka had spats that were attached to the undercarriage. I believe these were either pneumatic or on springs tha when the Aircraft landed they were at rest. Once fuel and bomb load was loaded etc and the aircraft took off the legs returned to there original state of extended
I hope the pic of instructions booklet gives you the idea.
I find this very handy and Airfix have pre cut in the moulds so it is easy to detach the part if your Aircraft is to be depicted on the ground.

Ooh Maskol, I hate the stuff! Hopefully you'll have no problem with rubbing it off later Robert

I only use maskol with a cotton bud tip never a brush and never with my new A/B !!
I find it seems to protect clear plastic IMHO but it's not infallible and most masking areas are done using tamiya tape.
I have also heard maskol to be used when doing camo on tanks ( never tried )
