To answer you Patrick your spot on. I get chance at work to reply to texts abs emails on breaks and yes predicting text is a pain in the ass ( checking it is not always easy )

A little update looking more like a plane now got the undercarriage on with no dramas and I followed the advice on the PE on the tail work will stop until I get my canopy mask's20170317_122254.jpg 20170317_122303.jpg

Peter, can I ask if the colour call-outs on your kit say RLM 02 or RLM 66?

I'm just about to start my Academy kit & they're saying it's RLM 66 - I'm no expert on Luftwaffe aircraft & I'd not want to muck it up.

Sorry to butt in here but from my ref the internal areas were standard RLM 02
There are various manufacturers that produce there own version of this. Personally I have found Vallejo model Air seem to have it spot on 71-022 if this is of any help to you

Thanks for that Robert. However, from what I'm seeing online, it appears that Luftwaffe cockpit colours changed from 02 to 66 after November 1941. So a G-2 should be done in 66...
I think that's what I'll do :smiling3: not sure I've got any 02 on hand anyway!

The first Ju 87 Gs were conversions from D-1 and D-3 types and reached operational units in April 1943. I would go for RLM 66 interior, but I don't think there is absolutely conclusive evidence for this.
I have a picture of Rudel and Hentschel sitting in a D-3, taken in early 1944, and the parts of the interior visible look suspiciously light in colour :smiling3:
It's an often reproduced photograph, the I./St.G. 2 emblem being clearly visible (the one featuring Hubertus Hitschold's scotty dog 'Molch'.)

Thanks Steve, my kit is a G-2 which I understand is based on the later D-5 variant. I'd guess this would be RLM 66, so that's what I'm going with.

My Stuka B-2 mark that I'm doing was from I believe SG-7 in 1941 ( don't quote me on this ) but decals coming in post abs from quick ref I noticed the Stuka had a white wash that is seen worn away around engine bay and well travelled and used areas.
I think again not 100% this unit was drafted from Norway or Germany and retained the splinter camo

Can't be St.G. 7, there wasn't one :smiling3:

I./St.G. 1 operated during the Norwegian campaign.

The white wash applied in the winter of 1941 was a semi-permanent lacquer (A2515.21) and it did tend to wear quite badly. It was invariably applied over the standard splinter scheme (70/71) on Ju 87s. The instructions for its application stated that it was best applied by brush or roller, but there are many examples to show that it was often sprayed. A permanent white lacquer (2126.21) was not available until the following winter.

Just catching up on this while I wait to start my own build (and seeing if I can pinch any ideas!). Looking good so far, Peter. The cockpit and instrument panel look great.

I have finally got it together and it's had it's first coat of green I will need another coat as my canned air is getting low but I am beginning to warm to my airbrush so I don't know why I didn't do it a long time ago.

Looking nice Peter, but, and it's a big but, now could be the time to start saving up for a compressor. It will be cheaper than compressed air cans in the long run.
