Defeated and demoralized, a decimated block defense unit surrenders and hopes for mercy.
Something in very short supply they will soon find:oops:

Awesome, love the vulnerability that you have portrayed in the surrendering German, the whole composition really has a narrative. Painting's not bad either ;) .

Like I've already said about this diorama - it's awesome! :smiling3:
The only thing sad about it is the history behind it... The allied forces, EU and UN, are still hunting old Nazi members in order to convict them for war crimes, but there's very little mentioned about the war crimes that were allowed to happen by the Russians the week that followed the battle for Berlin. (and during the occupation of West Germany)

Thanks Jens, the atrocities committed by the savage and vicious Rooski and Mongol hoards dwarfs even the rape of Nanking.
Over 2 million women and girls committed suicide due to the horrors committed against them not counting those who did not survive the torture and rape.
Age held no sway with these heinous mongrels, infants to the frail elderly were equal targets.....Where were the condemnations?!
Yet to this day they comb the jungles of Paraguay and Columbia searching for "clues" to the whereabouts of some old codger who if he does even exist would at best be a
dementia riddled octogenarian who could not remember what he ate for breakfast much less the war days:confused:......you gotta love it:rolleyes:

Thanks so much John, glad you see the tragedy and pathos I tried to portray in this piece. When you work on a big project you must have a driving emotional force
to keep you at it or you can peter out on it.
To see men so utterly shattered both physically and spiritually to the point of oblivion is one of the most horrid aspects of war.

A real work of art there, beautifully rendered and painted and really captures the tragedy of war. I just goes to show that making models isn't just about collecting flying machines and tanks but can also be about conveying a message.

Great work Jim. Your diorama brings the horror of what it must have been like, to us in 2017.

Thank you Joe, nothing can really bring to those who haven't experienced actual combat the true soul smashing experience of mans true inhumanity to man.
I'm glad I've made some impression of what it may have actually been like.

Thanks again......Jim:smiling3:

Thank you so much Alex, I've been at this hobby so long that "collecting" certain vehicles is of little importance now-a-days.
Though I do put out vehicle only renditions I do try to make each one an individual one of a kind offering always showing some sort of specific type of weathering
and stowage compliments (usually home made).
So glad you enjoyed this one, many more to come Good Lord willing;)

If you feel sorry for these guys Jack, think of the almost 3 million German soldiers and civilians (women and children) who perished from starvation, disease , exposure
and brutality at the hands of...no, not the Russians... The allies!... in concentration camps across Europe after the war while excess food ,medicines ,tents and blankets rotted at the docks or were sold into the black markets....purposeful genocide ala Eisenhower.

The biggest problems with war crimes is that it's the winners who dictate who's judged and convicted.
Life isn't fair, but we must learn from our mistakes and we must make sure the history "we know" is the actual history and not something cobbled up.
I've studied enough history to know how little of the printed history is actually accurate and true. Luckily we're much better at this today, in the civilised parts anyway... but only just.

One sad example is the history about the conflict in Northern Ireland. Whilst growing up I always wondered about IRA and why there was a conflict? The Swedish history books in school omitted this with a couple of lines that didn't say anything - and the little there was felt totally wrong?!
It wasn't until I moved to UK and eventually actively decided to learn the history about Northern Ireland (by the help of a couple of Irish colleagues, both north and south) and it was a revelation to say the least... It turned out that the truth conflicted with the family who owns, writes, prints and distributes ALL school books in Sweden?! There is only one problem here and that is that you can't accuse them for censoring history since this family is of a sensitive origin...

Since then I've had to reevaluate all the history, and geography, I learned in school and there were huge parts that had to be corrected in my brain.
Quite clever actually to tweak history and back it up with tweaked maps. That way you can't find the truth even when looking for errors...

This had nothing to do with scale modelling, but when researching scale models we have to verify history and sometimes we discover alternate facts and it'd be wrong not to voice this in hope humanity can better itself. I'm at least trying to by learning actual history.

"Actual" history is a flying enigma Jens, printed by those who wish to benefit from it in some way. Eisenhower harbored a deep hatred for the German people especially after viewing the horrors of the death camps but his ire was misdirected for the most part and he leveled his wrath against those who for all intents and purposes were probably the least responsible for such atrocities.

A very enlightening book was written on this subject called 'Other Losses' (the authors name evades me at the mo) which was how this intentional "culling" of the German people
was referred to back then and a major cover up ensued. Pretty effective I might add since most so called WW2 "experts" never even heard of such an atrocity perpetrated by those who piously saw themselves as champions of freedom and justice.
