First a big well done for suggesting yet another hit. It seems that the "single type" type og builds are very popular.
Please use this thread to chat about THIS GB.
As per the norm You can open a thread for your build and post post build posts. (that's a lot of posts in a row!).
Box top, sprues etc. Just now building until the start date.
Anyone that wants to join in; feel free to do so. It would be great if all those that took pat in the first ever GB on the forums joined this one.
So far we have:
John (airfix)
tr1ckey66
papa695
Ron (spanner570)
Ian M (thats me)
Dave (Dave)
Polux
Colin M
Doug Hughes
GermanJim
John Rixon
I will leave it to John to post the final details for the build, please let him do that before you all start posting here! ;)

Thanks to Ian for backing this and all the others who have joined up and supported this GB.
I haven't got access to my stash or workshop at the moment, so I am going to ask others to go first.
Could you post what kit, scale and type you are doing please? An image of the kit would be even better.
For myself I am doing the Zoukei Mura 1/48 Tank Ta 152H-0. Mostly OOB with seatbelts and maybe an aftermarket dash and scratching for the engine's piping and hoses. Images coming soon
Cheers, John

Remember to post the GB basic rules for the other members. ;)
I think rules are pretty easy here.
Aftermarket additions are welcomed. Basically any Fw 190 and Ta 152 for the Luftwaffe in WWII made by Kurt Tank. I would include the Ta 154, but let's save that for a Nachtjager build next time. :smiling3:
If any extensive mods are done such as the Fw 190D Kangaroo variant, please state.
We start November 2018 and end April 2019.
Btw, it would be great to see some 1/32 kits. Eg hasegawa and revell.
Captured subjects are welcomed as well as JV 44
Cheers, John

The start is a whole year away!! Do you not mean November 2017 to April 2018?
My plan is to build a Revell 1/32 FW190 A-8 in the new year, February 2018 (after finishing my final Tammy Spit build) which will fit in this time-frame so I will join in... unless it is a year later in which case it may be my ZM 1/32 Ta152 which should be around that time-frame..... or can be made to be. I have a bit of a rota for my stash....

I'm building the same as Polux, should arrive very soon - I've only recently started aircraft, and am enjoying the very real new challenges presented, after many AFVs. Hope I can meet the standards I know that will be displayed here!!

Would welcome another ZM Ta 152 as I am doing one, but in 1/48.
And yes, 2018 November into 2019 April

Hi John
I'm presently sorting through my stash to get a shortlist of kits for this GB.
I have:-
2 x 1/32 Hasegawa FW190D-9
1 x 1/32 Hasegawa FW190A-6
1 x 1/32 Hasegawa FW190A-8
1 x 1/32 ZM Ta152H
AND
1 x 1/24 Trumpeter FW190D-9

All have their fair share of AM and all should be good builds. I'm taking some pics at the weekend for all the GBs I'm involved with and hopefully by then I'll have decided which kit (or kits) I'll be going ahead with for your GB.

Thanks
P

I don't know what I will be building, my stash is non-existent so I will pick something up before the start. Probably one of the Eduard kits, as they appear to have a good reputation for accuracy.

That 1/24 190 looks rather interesting! Is it a good kit?

In truth, I've read mixed reports - all typical Trumpeter - the usual accuracy issues but generally pleasant enough to build. The plastic looks ok but the real proof is in the building. One accuracy issue that stands out is the line of the piano hinge on the engine cowls. If those hinges existed on the real aircraft as Trumpeter have depicted them then they simply wouldn't open!
I've got the Verlinden detail set, Montex masks, Master armament barrels and SAC replacement U/C to go with the BIG Dora plus some other bits and bobs. I may build it during the course of your GB but, to be honest, I'm kind of leaning toward the 2 Hasegawa 190As.

I'll post a pic here of the kits and AM (if there's room and time) and, who knows, maybe I'll build the lot! After a full year without any model builds I'm really ready to get stuck in now and I intend to be really prolific in the new year!

I don't think I'm going to put my kit choice to a vote as I really do want to build what I 'feel' like doing at the time.

Also, when Revell release the 190A-8 I will probably buy that too, together with all the BIG Sin Eduard stuff I can put in it!

Agh, so many kits sooo little time!

Although I can't wait to start I won't be jumping the gun. I've signed up for a lot next year - the Anti Aircraft, Tornado and (possibly) Panther GBs too. I'll probably start the Kurt Tank GB later in 2018 (around the same time as yourself).

Anyhoo, exciting stuff - bring it on!

I think the only kit trumpeter nailed was their 1/32 Me 262A-1a. Got one in the stash with a BIG ED set and it looks so good

Yes, it's a great kit - I have that too. Their Dauntless is also quality.
I bought the BIG Dora knowing it's faults, I mean it's the only game in town in that scale so there's no choice. Trumpeter produce some Jaw dropping stuff 1/200 Bismarck, 1/48 U-boat as well as there expanding 1/24 aircraft range. They could (and should) improve their research into some subjects but there's also part of me that thinks they get a disproportional amount of flak for their efforts. Without them there'd be quite a gap in the kit list. And some of their less accurate examples can be brought up to date and build into decent models - I've seen countless great Trumpeter MkV and MkVb Spitfires (a few I've seen on this forum!) and I really like the result I got with their 1/32 Ju87B-2.
Yes Trumpy have their faults but there are few manufacturers (if any) that can claim to be completely accuracy free anyway.

Do you think I should build the Big Dora?
