Peter, I've got one that's been scribed but left in the box for the last 10 years. Will be looking to you for inspiration for a restart

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Peter
A real challenge. The tooling for this must be 40+ years old. What problems did you find last time which made it bin material? It certainly builds into a big model. I look forward to seeing you tame it this time around.

When I got to the wings and they were so ill fitting gaps the size of canyons at the wing roots and I had to cut off the locating tabs to get them to line up so in the end I sold the clear part's on and sold the rest at a boot sale.
But now I have gained more skills I am going to give it my all.

Looking forwards to following this one, you always learn a lot from people building these old kits.

Its certainly a challenge Pete , its an old timer for sure! I built one a few years back and added a full scratchbuilt interior , reworked the wheel wells to give the correct depth , added the collector ring exhaust stubs etc etc. I photographed all the build stages but the laptop I was using at the time went wonky and I lost all my photos! Ive still got the model though but unless you broke it open you would never know whats inside! I always fancied having another go at this kit but then I think of the work I did last time and it makes me think again! it does make a mighty impressive beast though so who knows ,maybe one day when ive got more time. cheers tony

Thanks for all the inspiration depending on what mood I am in I might give some scratch building a go but I will be adding some belts.

The two engines are weathered and finished.
Now the fun begins first up are the props and they each have a mould line, two ejecter marks and one sink mark to be sorted.
And part 13 spot the mistake between the instructions and the real peace so a bit of scratch building needed there.WP_20181110_07_49_30_Pro.jpgWP_20181110_07_23_59_Pro.jpgWP_20181110_07_24_54_Pro.jpgWP_20181110_07_42_39_Pro.jpgWP_20181110_07_43_03_Pro.jpg

Which way do those doors open? That might save you having to add them (though it’s not as if it’ll be a major work).

Hi Peter
Engines look nice. The props are a heap of work, just time and patience. Are the missing doors "hiding" somewhere on another sprue?

Update time the props have been sorted and I did try some scratch building in the cockpit but me and scratch building don't go hand in hand so it's only minimal seat belts as well.
And the cockpit is finished.
On the plus side I have some after market decals as well.WP_20181112_06_57_24_Pro.jpgWP_20181112_06_56_30_Pro.jpgWP_20181112_06_56_43_Pro.jpgWP_20181112_07_46_14_Pro.jpgWP_20181112_07_46_24_Pro.jpgWP_20181112_15_35_00_Pro.jpg

Hi Peter
Looks very much as if it is a case of "so far so good". Props and cockpit all looking very smart.
