I also agree with a lot of what Dave has said.

The GBs have on occasion tempted me out of my comfort zone, and I do like them. On the other hand I can be a very slow builder and on occasion because of work I can go 3 or 4 weeks without getting to my bench.
I also have been guilty in the past of saying I will join a GB and then having to drop out due to other commitments. I am desperately trying to finish a Fairy Fulmar at the moment so I can start the Kurt Tank GB.
I think that is the root of the issue, providing enough topics to interest people in joining a build, but not so many that too any are left with no takers.

i voted to keep

i fully understand (cos ive done it elsewhere) how hard it is to come up with ideas that appeal to as many as possible but i think Ian and Polux do a good job, i try to join in with as many GB as i can that appeal simply cos its a way of supporting the site, as well as trying new things

i like the idea of 'official' site GB as well as member suggested ones, although ive not seen any one suggest any for a long time

I freely admit that I too have signed up for a Suggested GB with the best intentions of joining in. Life just gets in the way from time to time so I understand that point. I confess that I have 'abused' my title and "made the numbers up" on one or two, so they can go ahead..........

Dear all... I really like the idea of GB but l decided to vote to drop them because of these reasons:
1. I like to look at them but i don't participate so I don't find fair
2. I won't be able to do as it's asked
3. I like to do my dioramas and subjects that l've chosen
4. I only do my hobby on sunday and monday 2 to 4 hours a day ... so I will not have time to participate in GB

my 2 cents
Have a nice evening

Greg, as I understand it there will still be GBs, but chosen by the members not the moderators.

As I don't get much time to build I have to choose what to partake in, therefore the more choice there is, is beneficial to me, as long as I have something in the stash and comfortable about having a go at it, so either way is not a problem for me whatever way the vote goes, as long as there's a possibility to do something, It's part of my PTSD therapy..., even if I don't get to finish it.. :smiling4:

I like the GB's and just finished two for the WW1 memorial

Personally speaking there seems to be too many ongoing at the same time with the current system - not enough time to participate

I would be happy with one military and one civilian running concurrently for say four months to have a chance at completing something

Members could suggest subjects to go into the pot - Mods could then select from the pot

My opinion is that we have so many GB's that many members don't have time to participate in subjects they otherwise would have. I've overstretched myself to help get a few member suggested GB's over the line, and those have absorbed all of my spare model building time. Therefore, as the member suggested GB system seems to be popular and working fine, and I am personally highly unlikely to have the capacity to commit to any forum calendar GB, I will vote to drop the forum calendar GB. Thanks to Ian and Polux for their hard work.

As we have a lot of new members maybe we will get more interest in both forum and member G.B's so I vote to keep it running through 2019

Hi,
On this occasion I shan't vote as I really only build Eastern Front type dioramas.
How ever I was surprised to see how many different group builds there were on here. So there does seem to be a following, in that case I will just abide with the results.
A lot of time and effort is taken by who ever runs a build and I appreciate their input.

John.

of course if the 'official' gb's are done away with then the onus is the members to come up with good ideas, i just hope theres a mix suggested, not just armour or aircraft......and as i remember, if you suggest something, you run the gb, not the mod team

and ive not see much suggested in the last few months, even though they can be suggested at any time

I vote to keep the forum GB's and second Ian's idea:
I would rather go the other way around, DO the forum GB's and drop the members one, but like we used to do give suggestions for the GB's then Ian and Polux can choose, That way there won't be too many on the go at any one time.
:thumb2:
Not against the popular member GB's at all but this might keep it easier to keep pace and still be inviting to try something new.
Just my two cents...

I voted too and I think the idea to leave it as is until the end of 2019 is a good plan. As for GBs in general, my completion rate is atrocious and life/work always seems to get in the way.

In other words, I would have better luck French kissing a rattlesnake than finishing a GB in time...……...
