Nice build Tony. So I take it the skies over Russia are always that lovely blue colour. Then again, if you fly high enough...........................

It may look nice and blue looking up Colin but I'd hate to have to look down on Russia looking at the top colour Tony's done

It's a good point - Russia does seem a bit dark...........................unless of course you're flying over the black sea on a lovely day, the perfect camouflage

Well after a lovely break in Cornwall Ive managed to get back in the shed so the 'Hellduck' has come on a bit more. The decals are on , these all being aftermarket except for the intake warning triangles (BTW the decals in the kit were really pants ! had to overpaint them with Klear before trying to use them as they just broke up in the water , found this out when i tried using one of the spare stencils on the Yak 23 !) The 3 coloured stars and BBC POCCN script were from Begemot Decals and were great to use.

The undercarriage has had brake lines added to the main legs and the nose leg has had a step added to the mudguard and landing lights made from two silver sequins of the right size. There is also a prominent entry ladder on the back of the nose leg so i painstakingly made this from brass rod and plastic strip superglued together . The undercarriage is now on and the doors are in the process of being fitted .

The exhausts have also been fitted , the gun panels painted with gun metal and the flare dispensers under the tail boom made using decal strips and a fine point pen , theyre a bit wonky but i wont say anything if you dont!! ;) ;) Also added is the mesh and strips in the APU exhaust vent on the tail boom.

Whats left then? Well theres the stores to fit (four from spares box ,2 from kit ) ,all the tiny aerials and thats nearly it , heres some pics , cheers tony

Well this is finished at last ! (actually I finished it last week just in time to take it to the Newark show) Its been a fairly involved build -I didnt realise how many things needed changing to represent the latest production machines , anyway its done and I'm quite chuffed to have got a first in class (Aircraft -1/72 modified) at the show!! (actually there were only two entries in that class ,and they were both mine -the yak 23 got 2nd! so its a bit of a hollow victory LOL!!)

Heres a couple of pics to round off this thread then I'll put a shedload on a 'Completed' thread , thanks for watching , cheers tony:cool:
