Finished sculpting him and produced a casting which I have started painting.

Usually I start with the face, but in this case I have started with the headdress - Vallejo air paints, shades of grey with a little white. Thereis still room for some highlights which I will add when the rest is painted.

The blob is blu-tack to protect the face.

Here it is with Vallejo acrylic base coats for the uniform and face.

Next - adding the first oil paints.

At this scale I cannot get acrylics to blend smoothly so I tried this technique which seems to work ok.

It has two weaknesses - the drying time (which is why I am working on more than one at a time), and the risk of paint building up and losing details. A particular risk around the eyes.

Thank you. I convinced my wife to let me take some photos of her wearing a large scarf, they worked nicely as reference photos.

Peter, if it works for you then that's great, I can't get either to work.. lol, great stuff though.

Steve - glad you like it. The Agal is based on one in the IWM.

I will be posting a photo later this evening whem /i have worked on the face.
