1/35 Siege of Bastogne. December 1944.

One of the few Sherman tanks holding on to the perimeter of the besieged town of Bastogne.
Due to poor weather, allied air cover is impossible for most of the time.....The defenders cling on.

Just in case any pedants or nitpickers see an opportunity to have a pop at the model regarding the timber 'skirts' which were not (perhaps) used in the Ardennes , let me explain....
The crew of the tank are good old Kentucky chums and coming from timber country 'borrowed' the baulks, as they saw them as a good way to try and insulate the metal from the intense cold. O.K.?

The sheets are toilet paper.
The base and building are scratched built.
Trees from the garden.

Overcast and miserable.



























The clouds clear and the allied fighter bombers can finally get at the enemy tanks.
The siege is over.

...just to put the record straight, I've used two parts of previous dio's and cobbled them together. then added a fresh sprinkling of 'Snow'

Jim, I prefer to describe my approach to this lark as precise, well thought out, with an eye on absolute authenticity and complete accuracy. All coupled with the 100% correct paint colour and maximum wonga spent on aftermarket stuff costing more than the kit.
